Ok, inferno ... eyecandy ... YEY !

however...

E5200 dualcore intel.
4GB / Vista 32bit

Use to have a ATI 4800 , who was eaten alive by Inferno..

So, upgraded to .. Nvidia , 550 Ti , and a new PSU to go with it.
Latest drivers, dust free, plenty of cooling..

Memory load, 1/2 of max.. processor load , 18%

But bloody hell, whenever i shoot a missile ( or somebody else does that ) , i drop down to 15FPS
(from 60 stable)

Response from bug-team ccp: turn of missile stuff ( no joke )

But come on, this setup should handle at least one box proper, now actual multiboxing became impossible for me.

Any sugestions ?

( oh yes, did a clean install of EVE "just in case" )

It's called Inferno for a reason.

It feels unlikely for anyone buying something new in the last two years to have anything worse than me. I use AMD Phenom 8450 Triple-Core Processor 2.10GHz with AMD Radeon 6570 with and I only experience lag in character creation. I don't know if you have better or worse than me (I lack knowledge in hardware), but as I find it unlikely, my processor being years and my graphic card being a budget one, you'll know the problem doesn't lie in the hardware if you're better off than me.

Running just fine for me on a GTX 260-216 at max settings and about 120 FPS during small gang fights and general use.

Looking at your computer specs, a few things jump out at me. First, you have a decent GPU, but the rest of your set up seems to be far behind it. An E5200 is not up to supporting the potential of the 550 ti (and the mother board this CPU is pluged into is probably not much better.) Not only does it have a very small cache, but it only supports 800mhz FSB which means textures and effects are probably bottle-necking there (constantly having to be loaded into GPU cache, see bellow.) In addition, you are using a 32 bit OS, which will only support up to 3 gigs of RAM. This total also includes the on board memory for your video card and any accessories you have with on board random access memory. If you are trying to ask the OS to handle 4 gigs of RAM plus 1 gig of on board on the 550 ti, then it is probably not handling this gracefully.

TL:DR

You are using too much memory for a 32 OS, get 64 bit. Your GPU is not the bottleneck in your system.

Hit ESC and bring up the graphics menu.

Set the interval to Default or 1.

If you set it to immediate, you'll have heat issues. If you don't, you wont.

That processor and probably motherboard combo is pretty old? More Ram coudln't hurt either but as someone else stated I think you need to upgrade to 64 bit to get more.

Thanks gents, getting somewhere

EDIT: indeed, it ain't quite the latest.
What "disturbs" me, is before inferno, i could multibox 3 clients without a hickup on this box ,
and after patch.. i can *bearly* run one

I dont mind so much upgrading the system, but after the nvidia adventure ( new card, still no result )
i really getting a bit pissed - and carefull buying more stuff that won't help -

btw, indeed, messing with "interval one / default" improves it , dunno why that would not work before tho

That does seem to be a pretty big hit in performance if you were able to run three before. Drop a few hundo on a mobo/cpu combo if you are able to and see how it does. Or there's always the "turn the missiles off" option I spose :)

The times they are a-changin

Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2330 @ 1.60GHz
2 gigs of RAM
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family Big smile

Next to zero lag on low settings. Only time I get lag is in jita. Maybe you need to upgrade your rig, or downgrade it. Since I am such a nice guy I'll even swap you straight up, then you can play Eve no problem on your new craptop.

BTW Eve was made almost a decade ago, you can't expect it to stay graphically the same.

+1 I run eve maxed out on my ******* toaster. I don't know what the op's problem is tbh. He's clearly just dumb.

I didn't like the GTX550 when I bought it to run SWTOR's graphics engine, it wasn't that it was slow, I barely noticed any lag but it just ran way too hot for what it was doing, so I took it back and spent the extra money on the 560. Haven't had any complaints, the 560 runs hot too but at least I can keep it around 70 with the fan at maximum, and no lag whatsoever.

So close...

The 550 is a really bad card, though. Should have gone for at least a 560. I've got a 560M with the latest drivers and I'm fine. I even have most of the graphics turned up.

turn off effects?

550ti was crap when the 5xx was out...
we are on 6xx now so think about that

Gaming should be nothing under a 560... not a 550, way to buy a POS.

Also 560m < 550ti...

omg noobs.

Since sometimes I need to move away from home, I have a 2 years old Asus netbook (ION video card) with Win 7 32 bit. It runs 1 instance at low-ish details quite well and with no lag when firing missiles. Runs 2 instances too but then the poor thing slows down to 10 FPS.

550 was advised to me ( i really know jack-**** about this stuff, so i go with what other people say )

Anyway, its to make this rig live for another year or so *if he makes it* , then going for a new setup.

Btw, the interval thingy actually fixed it :) \o/ , can now get in warp or -move around- without lagging-up

Of course i would rather have got me a brand new 8 core, with 16GB , SSD hd and a SLI set of the shiny nvidia cards..
My wallet figured otherwise however ;p

8core would mean AMD... another mistake... (let alone that fact eve does not need the CPU power)
16gig... you left off ram... meh maybe if you want to run 8 eves
ssd hd... um... you have ssds and hdds... ssd hd does not exist... unless you mean a hybird drive and I know you do not... SSD would give you faster windows boot times... it would not make eve run faster
SLI vid cards also not needed... a 680 would run eve very very well

On to the fail excuse...

Google its a thing you can't google "best video card for the money" "best vid card for gaming" etc?

Any more excuses?
