Problems with V-Sync

Back after a few months of doing other stuff I noticed some very strange V-Sync problems that I didn't have last time I played.

Setup:
Intel Core i5 2500K
8gb ram
Geforce 560 Ti + Geforce 520
Latest geforce drivers (301.42

I run 2 screens (2x 1920x1080) on the 560 and a surround receiver + 720p projector on the 520. The 520 is just used for movie watching never for games.
I usually run 2 clients, one on each screen connected to the 560 but these problems manifest themselves even with just 1 client.

With v-sync off (Interval Immediate) I get depending on situation and if I have 1 or 2 clients running 100-200 dps. So far I have never seen it drop below 70 dps but when I turn v-sync on (Interval One or Interval Default, makes no difference) my dps mostly get stuck at 30 with 1 client or 15 with 2 clients.

I have tested turning on and off the adaptive v-sync in the nvidia options but it makes no difference (doesn't seem like it's used). Other than that all nvidia options are at default.
Ingame graphics options are all at max.

The main reason I want to use v-sync is to lower the load of the GPU, would like if possible not have to run it at full speed for hours and hours.

Using GPU-Z I can see that when I run 2 clients that both end up getting 15 fps I only get around 18-20% GPU load (while turning off v-sync always give 99% load) so it's not that the GPU not being able to keep up but something else. Anyone else having or used to have similar problems and if so what if anything did you do to solve it?

Hi Hoshi,

A few others and I are having the same issue. A Dev responded in the thread I will link below about what causes it. however, I do not think they have released the fix yet.

Ah thank you. Actually remember reading that post but I didn't have the second video device back then so I didn't take any special note of it. Good it's a known problem that they are working on fixing.

Guess I will have to go with overheating my GPU for now as unplugging the receiver every time I want to play eve is not practical.
