Bombs range shortened

Bombs now only travel 23kms with a 375m/s manticore launching.

Is this correct? If so could CCP a) Change the discription on the mod and b) let us know if the inertia of the ship launching now effects the speed it goes.

By the way i love the idea of dive bombing and inertia effecting bombs, it would however be nice to know how it works.

I could of course be being a bit thick here.

Decloak
Turn MWD on
Drop bomb
Pray you can turn 90º and get out of the blast zone in time

Not as far as I can tell. Visually, it seems shorter, but the actual effect seems to take place at the correct range. Fired one (three, actually) at a custom's office on Sisi from 40KM away. The office was hit, but from a top down view the explosion appears to take place much closer to my ship than would be expected.

Ship was stationary when I fired. If you have the tactical overlay on, it shows you the blast radius of a bomb when you mouse over the launcher. The only thing your ship's motion has impacted since the bomb rework is trajectory - not velocity. This does not seem to have changed.

Edit: Actually, I might take that back. Repeating the test with a jetcan (in case oversized object hitbox had anything to do with it), the bomb didn't hit from 43 km (which did put the can inside the explosion radius sphere on the tac overlay). It did hit from 39KM, which was about when I got bored and went to do something else.

I would assume that it's related to the way missile range is always a little shorter in practice for acceleration time (though I don't think bombs should have to or be capable of accelerating).

I don't know that this is new - I've never tried to just-barely-hit something with a bomb before.

Maybe it has something to do with how the new bombs are launched.

Before they would just come out of your ship , now once they are engaged there is a short time where they move very slowly before their thruster is activated , maybe this "idle" time is counted in the timer before the bomb explodes...
