Just resubbed.

Well, I just resubbed and decided I wanted to give the game another go (it seems like a yearly thing for me) for a while.
It seems like every year, I sub for a few months, play then quit. I wanted to get a fresh start and give the game a fair try again.

This time, I wanted to (because I forgot how to play) just keep my character and sell all my assets, move to a new area and start over in a new frigate.

So, any suggestions on where I should go to to start over? prefer highsec until I get the swing of things. I don't even remember what ships I can fly. Battlecrusiers maybe I think. I know I had a cane and a drake along with a myrm.
I was fairly close to a hulk as well (8-10 days).

I just want to drop everything take my (meager) amount of space monies and start over somewhere else. Relearn the game and get back into the swing of things.

Thanks for reading/suggestions.

Why?

Seriously, how can we advise where to go, if we don't know where you have come from or why you can't stay there?

Good point.
Oh well, thanks anyway!

Question is "what do you want to do?"

Answer that, and we can tell you where to go, who to meet, and what to do to make it happen.

Welcome back!

I just want to start mission running again to ease back into the game, I don't know exactly where I am but its close to Jita (15 maybe 20 jumps).

I would like to find a nice quiet mission hub and just start all over again, I got a lot of assets to sell if I remember right. so I should be set for a while as far as starter frigate and maybe a salvage boat.

I think the reason I quit and come back so much is that I was always mining and not really having any fun. I had geared up for mission running but never started.

So I figured a "fresh start with a old character" may hold my attention this time around.

Well, before you sell everything, take a look at doing the tutorial missions. Each race has 3 different tutorial mission agents for a total of 12 sets of tutorial missions. Get reaquainted with the basics through the tutorial missions, sell the free skillbooks and ships in the major trade hub (Jita, Rens, Dodixie, Amarr). And yes, those skillbooks and free frigates still sell very nicely and very quickly. After you get your feet wet again, you can decide from there. If you haven't tried station/hub trading, give it a go, I did it for the first time last week and went from 9 million isk to well over 100 million isk in 3 days. Have you tried exploring? high sec exploring can get a bit frustrating but if and when you do find a mag or rad site, its worth it. Missions are a bit easier now with the in game agent finder. So much better than the old school method of searching the web then going in game. Idustry and mining are still going strong, but i believe Hulkageddon is in progress right now, so it may not be too safe right now. PvP is also an option. Might look into redvsblue (I am as we speak). Also with faction ware revamped, seems to be much better there too. Here are a few links to help you.

Also, if you did mining/refining before, you could also "mine" missions. By that I mean the modules you get from missions, refine the low selling mods and sell the rest. (my rulle of thumb was if it sold in Jita for 6 figure isk, then I would sell it, otherwise i would refine it) Could be enough to provide a source of mats for industry if and when you happen across a bpc while missioning.

Best bit of advice I could give you is to stop trying to play an MMO solo. It devolves back into a grind and you stop having fun no matter what activity you do. Do it with friends and you'll have more fun :D

Dodixie.
I remember that system, I am somewhere between that and Jita.

Anyway, Eve (for the most part) always seems to have the best community when it comes to getting some help.

So, I could just fly to the other factions tuts and get started again with them? Id didn't think about that.

I might check into RvB (I was in it a great deal of time ago), but faction warfare may be pretty cool, if its been revamped.

You said refine twice xD

Also usually when people refer to mission mining it's when they mine the asteroids found in the deadspace area. People like mining this way cause it acts like their own personal little grav site that they didn't have to spend any effort scanning for :D

You still haven't explained what you hope to get out of moving to a new location?

Are you in low or null sec and want to move back to empire?

If you are just talking about relocating within empire space, what is wrong with missioning where you already are? Where all you gear is and where you probably have some standing with the NPC corps that give missions.

You don't need to worry about finding a 'nice quiet' mission hub. The changes to the loot and salvage tables has all but killed off ninja looting and salvaging. If someone does find their way into your mission space, just ignore them. Let them take whatever they want, it's just junk. This is only likely to happen in L4 missions anyway are very rare, I've experienced it only twice in hundreds of L4 missions.

You might want to plan ahead for the L4 agent you are eventually going to end up running missions for. Start with the corporations and check what they sell in their Loyalty point store.

http://www.ellatha.com/eve/LP_Stores.asp

Assuming high sec, pick an L4 security Agent in the lowest possible high sec (0.5 or 0.6) in a system which has no adjacent low or null sec gates, so they pay top dollar and always send you to high sec.

http://eve-agents.com/
http://evemaps.dotlan.net/

Now find the appropriate lower level agent and start grinding your rep to access the L4, don't forget to train Connections to at least III and ideally IV to speed that.

Don't accept opposing empire faction kill missions, cause that screws your rep with those factions and eventually makes it difficult to travel through their space. That means only accept anti-pirate/mercenary/thief/terrorist missions. It is safe to accept Storyline mission, provided they aren't faction kill missions. You do get a negative hit on other factions when you complete them, but it is smaller than the gain to the friendly factions and the negative hit is capped to prevent you dropping so low that it becomes a problem (only kill missions can take you past that cap).

Wall of text, when I still don't really know what advice you are looking for, please be more specific in future and welcome back.

AND, I found destroyer was the way to go for me while running level 1 missions. I had probe, salvager and guns in high; analyzer, codebreaker, afterburner and shields in med; and gyro in low with shield rigs. I was able to do level 1 missions easy, salvage those missions, and explore without having to change fits or ships. It's a solid go to ship. So if my mission took me to another system, I did the mission, then did a quick explore in that system before I returned to the agent in home system where I turned in the mission. Now I am in a cruiser, next few days I will be upgrading to battlecruiser and level 3 missions. Also if missions are your goal, don't forget your social skills, they will help a lot. If you can currently fit a BC, then I would focus social and trade skills first to maximize rep and isk, if you haven't already.

Thanks everyone.

I guess I should get in game and figure out what it is that I want to do, before asking how to do it.

I may just try to find some tuts and run them again to relearn the controls and then pick up where I left off.
Once I get the hang of the game I think I am going to join the faction warfare or RvB.
I want to try getting into small time pvp.

Thanks everyone for the points/help and replies.

Ya FW might be a good place to go now after the huge revamp they did. The LP payouts for PVP make me wanna join too :3

Find some friends, OP :D

It just sounds like you are flying solo. I need to go to bed right now but I'm posting because... I have no self control? Mostly, I was staying up to chat with the guys from the alliance that live in NZ.

Pick a part of space you like because of its color I guess and move there. But you probably stop playing because you may know that there are awesome people in the game, reaching out and touching them is much, much more satisfying.
