I think t1 minmatar should look very haphazard, but t2 should look like they were actually designed for a purpose.

Well slapped together does not mean flimsey.

think the Apollo lander after a warhammer ork gets a hold of it.
Armor plates stuck to it and and engine strapped to the side for good measure. Some guns and a wingy bit.

A thucker fleet builds most of there ships from slavage and it should look like it!

IT'S NOT CALLED A WINGEY BIT! IT HAS A PROPER NAME YOU KNOW!

But yeah, in rust man. Not in smooth curves and lines. If I wanted pretty I woulda gone Amarr.

The first Minmatar interceptor was amazingly fast.

It had only one problem though... since they direct welded the pilot's pod directly onto a reactor assembly, which backended into a microwarpdrive... well, he had trouble getting out of it.

That, and the lack of proper reactor shielding caused his clone to mutate. Details details...

But, hella fast ship....

I honestly like the new republic style the hurricane established.

Well except for the Reavers being the Blood Raiders I would agree completely. :P But yeah, they should look pretty rough and battle-hardened.

I like the enclosed, modular look and feel of the reaper (but not the sidecar), and to a lesser extent the hound. They're less... spindly. I've always thought that minmatar ships should look more like predators (hurricane embodies this perfectly), as opposed to pointy box things; violently beautiful, if you get my meaning. They can be dangerous in appearance without becoming ultra-streamlined - there is such a thing as 'ugly but cool' as a style, as opposed to 'just plain ugly'. People want to look cool in their ships, but each race should attempt this in a different way. Minmatar can achieve this with a 'rough yet tough' look Smile

I think the current lot of V3 Minmatar ships look great. I won't mind at all if the remaining sub-capital ships end up looking similar to what we have now.

^YES

Give the ships some character and style from the culture that manufactured them.

More open holes with exposed machinery, bolted on plasma thrusters, pieces of scaffolding, ect...

Also, some of the faction/tech II ship colours are very questionable. Republic fleet firetail and Claw interceptor have camo on them now :( Please PLEASE don't give republic fleet and boundless creations ships fugly camo paint jobs. (Don't get me started about the navy comet. Police comet ftw!)

Painting the entire surface of a ship with camo doesn't really fit with minmatar style.

When I think "republic fleet" I think warpaint of somekind. Maybe drab grey/browns for the ships metal, with a thick stripe(s) of somekind across the ships hull. (Like the widow's paintjob but more minmatar. Perhaps a more eyecatching color for the stripe, maybe something neon or shiny, i dunno.) Light color is debatable, the old firetail had off white lights that weren't bad looking.

Please, just anything but more space camo. :"(

Personally, I think Minmatar ships as is are largely haphazard and sillly looking. They need two things:

1) They all need to look more like the Hurricane. Purposeful design, improvised parts. Minmatar should be masters of engineering something from nothing. Something intimidating and predatory. Not fragile and laughable looking. They should be built from salvage and scraps but with an actual design in mind.

Right now they look they're being slapped together by someone without a calculator or depth preception and a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. Simply from a lore prespective, 64% of all Minmatar must die in horrific yet easily avoidable industrial accidents before the age of 30.

2) Tech II Minmatar ships should have recognizable pieces from other races ships on them. They should literally be reinforced with the salvaged remains of their enemies as trophies.

As an Amarr pilot im going to laugh if they end up looking like the new hound.

Why? the new hound is awesome and littered with lots of tiny exposed detail and plates that don't quite line up with the hull. Love it, so good. The old hound was terribad.

ok ok to be fair. part of what is cool about minmatar ships is you can see the tech moving forward. The thyphoon compared to the Mealstrom for instance. This difference makes it feel like one is an old junker, and one is a brand new minmatar design.

It made that part really cool in clear skies when they get a new ship.

So honestly I hope overall, some old looking ships are kept. The cheaper isk-wise ones shuld looked V3'd, but old and the new minmatar ships should look a bit more put together.

Or revamp the whole thing, deal with forum whines to high heavens for a few weeks, and get on with it, finish eve allready! The game is unfinished a huge chunk of the ships look old :P

Actually, i quite like the look of the new hound, it looks both intimidating plus has an utilitarian element with the front facing scaffolding still, the breacher hull to me looked like a sideways waste bin with no bin bag.

The wing structure parts i believe are heat sinks? rather than solar sails as i initially thought (like TIE Fighters yay).

I know most of you think minmatar should be scrap piles of junk floating in space with thrusters plus guns attached, but to me it doesn't make sense as a race that can hold their own in factional fleet fights. If they were the famed rust buckets that could barely hold together through basic flight surely they would have been obliterated by the amarr/caldari ages ago?

I don't really have a problem with most of the ship models right now, but i do really like the look of their caps and BCs, would be a shame to make them look worse if you did go with the duct tape look?

Thank god the reaper got an update, as that just looked like a wafer thin piece of plank with guns on. I hope they remodel the breacher slightly (not to look as awesome as the hound obviously), slasher, bellicose........ and i know i'll get flamed for this but the tempest too (ever so slightly).

I quite like the rest of the ships as they are, this includes the typhoon.

I really like the direction of the new HOUND except the launcher mounting plates looks out of place :-(

At least it doesn't look as bad as the Purifier...

Minmatar looking streamlined or simetric is just makign it wrong! Races need their charm and minmatar is onthat. For me tempest is the most beutifully ever designed space ship ! Its not made of shallow concepts as simetry in space or smooth surface. It look somehtign that You would really implement when you are an enslaved race trthe started a revolution and needed to make fast somethign capable of traveling and firing slugs the size of a school bus at the enemy!

Rifter is a fairly iconic ship, so is Typhoon and Tempest, so I doubt they'll modify them much if at all. Besides, v3 is about reskinning ships, I don't think there'll be a lot of drastic changes to the basic model, some are probably expected but overall form should remain the same.

Anyhow, the new minmatar look has been explained before, when Hurricane and Maelstrom came. The original ship designs were essentially made from junk, whatever dock cranes, engine parts they could weld together during the minmatar rebellion, hence their rugged looks (why we still today create them by blowing up girder factories however, is beyond me).
Hurricane & Maelstrom on the other hand were designed and built with the resources of a large interstellar nation, hence their much more solid, less haphazard look.

Personally I think Hound's redesign is still very much Minmatar and loyal to the original design, to me Minmatar ships aren't personified by duct-tape and rust, but by their utilitarian attitude which has been preserved very well in the Hound. It's still very much function over form, else it would look just like Nemesis & Manticore.

Some minmatar ships are already symmetrical, like the rifter, hurricane, cyclone, hel, nid, nag, etc, do these then all look wrong?

Besides hasn't the revolution already happened? Surely the minmatar can now dedicate some refinement and improvement time to some of the ships to do more than look like a box with guns & thrusters stuck on? Making the ships look more DIY is going to make the minmatar look like the joke race of eve.

As above i don't think the models in general will change, it was just a wish i secretly had.
