What was the reason behind changing the color scheme of the Paladin and Crusader so radically. They've gone from a dark but still bright red to brown with a tint of red in it. Is there any reason in particular you made these color changes?

Some people at CCP must have preferred the new color scheme or didn't like the old one.

The Guardian got changed as well, guess they don't like Cathum.

I've seen a few posts complaining about the new color schemes.
While the following is pure speculation on my part I think it has something to do with the new manufacturer ship coloring:

I'm tired of CCP changing Amarr ships color scheme. Amarr ships aren't even gold anymore = /

Yes also the ship is really, really big. Some would say that people who fly it are dealing with a certain inadequacy but this is false.

The Ships range bonus makes it hard to see when firing at a distance so the length is so they can see who is ******* them up from quite a ways away.

You mean they aren't butter yellow anymore. They are actually gold now.

Some people (CCP) prefer it dark and unwashed when firing into them.Big smile

There are also some problems with the logo's not being the corporation logo's. E.g. a Khanid ship hasn't got the khanid innovations logo but the khanid kingdom logo etc.

IMO the colors are generally good but a little too brown/not bright enough. Khanid could be a little blacker but the black silver is nice. There's also a lack of gold. Especially the Navy choices of black and white look odd to me since Amarr is supposed to be the golden army? Perhaps make it gold/black which would give Khanid a similar but distinctive style (compared to their background being made distinctive from Amarr mainstream)

I always assumed the Khanid ships got the Khanid symbol because the fluff always seems to point that those ships are the mainstay of their navies.

I lied :o

The Khanid ships look awesome...the Viziam ones look alright.

However.

The T1 variants and the Carthum ones don't look good. The V3'd Apoc a couple of patches back had me worried, but it held out hope they might change it.

It's a continuation of CCP's "Let's darken EVERYTHING" project, to the extent that quite a few ships, even with in direct starlight, are dark enough on the texture front to actually lose detail.

The gold going to from bright gold to burnished gold is sort of ok, but some of the other panels are now far too dark and don't offer decent contrast.

The Carthum ships look terrible though, it's more "black with a hint of red" than the previous scarlet red colour.

Prior to V3, certain Amarrian ships looked like someone out of the Windows XP interface, bright candy colours and painful to take seriously or appreciate. I'm looking at you, Guardian, Paladin, and Pilgrim.

Mr. T demands that CCP change the ships to have more gold in em. He pitty the fool who don't fly gold ships.

And from what I remember they seem to have changed the colors of my Augoror Navy Issue, yes I fly one. It a nice flying brick to fly semi expensive goods around hi sec.

I was pretty upset overall at the changes, until, in my gaming laptop's last hurrah, I turned all the settings up to high. Slideshow aside, I (mostly) like the new hulls. There definitely is shiny gold on them, as accents, and the Carthum ships aren't as bad as I thought. They are still red. It's just really dark red.

Only thing I'm still not liking are the Khanid hulls.

The red color on the designs really did compliment the golden/yellow color that they had. Now they just look like they took a trip to fps land and came back with a dull brown finish. I loved how the paladin and crusader used to appear. Instead of all the dark colors, you had a much brighter, much more distincitve red. The red color was still dark though, without it looking like there was blood splattered on the hull.

And in my opinion, they're no longer red, they're brown with a tint of red. Why would they use the same color that minmatar ships use as their base color?

amarr faction asked the minmatar to give their ships some color so they made them kinda like minmatar ships.

I kinda like the new color, it reflect a more realist gold. However, I have a concern... the shader seems a bit too dark, especialy in system with low environnement lighting. Sometimes, all I can see of my Retribution are the lights and the edges.

Shark fin gives that away as the Vengeance. But damn if it didn't require a hard look.

The Crusader reminds me of station wagons. It reminds me of faux wood wallpaper in mobile homes. It reminds me of dust-covered brass antiques. It looks OK - I could even like it, but it's a stake through the heart of the golden fleet.

I can see all of your ship, every last detail in space, in that picture.
Have you tried playing with the brightness of your screen?

note: CCP, - this is why eve REALLY needs its own client specific brightness, contrast & gamma settings that are *client specific*. Load up a Turbine client and go into Options/Graphics/adv. for a great example of what i'm referring to.
