EvE has a great dark element to it...Betrayal, learn a password or a few words in confidence. Use it all to your advantage and savor in that sweet moment when you punk em..Hopefully they read your message on your way out...."YEEEHAAWWWW!"
Its that sweet freakshow thats EvE..explore just how bloody you can get in this wonderful fictional universe.

Where do you draw the line? Is there a line?
Recently a player took advantage of a deaf player that was recovering from surgery ...He took him into his confidence and helped him along for awhile...I wonder if he was thinking "Oh I"m going to freakin burn this deaf ******" .... He must have, because thats what he did. Took every item the deaf guy had saved for months...

Theres always one snivvely kid out there that takes it too far...

I dont blame the game, because this kid isnt playing the game. He stepped out of the game and made it something else. Ugly by anyones standards.

I dont want to mention this kids name... Master Shawn... as that probably would not be appropriate. *Master Shawn, currently docked in Dodixie* I just wanted to bring this event to light and to vent some frustration..FOR that I thank you very much.
*Master Shawn.

Thanks all and enjoy the new inventory :P

You should post this in CnP, there are plenty of experts who will be willing to help you out there.

How did he acquire the items?

If via contract/trade from the person who owned the items, tough luck thats EVE.

If via hacking/using the person's PW to log on and take them, report the individual as they broke the EULA.

Okay, so you got scammed. That's eve. Try to not get scammed in the future.

My real question is what does being deaf have to do with it? Should you be given some sort of special treatment because you can't hear? Is hearing related to your critical thinking abilities?

Somehow I doubt it.

So... this is just a whine thread about losing your stuff, then? I don't see how being deaf obviates the fact you need to be careful who you trust.

Unless he was saying "I'm gonna scam ya" over voice comms the whole time, I don't see how having a hearing disability makes you deserve any special treatment.

Especially since Eve doesn't have sound.

Actually I agree with everything you said ..and no it doesnt affect my critical thinking abilities. My being deaf and having a difficult week with having the surgery was what he used as the means to acquire my stuff. He acted as if he wanted to help...then punk'd me good.

All very much within the rules...I have no dispute with anything. This was my forum to hold him accountable in the court of public opinion.

I gotta support the OP here. Genuinely deaf. When he is in fleet i often type in chat what they are saying in TS3 for him. Also he was in the 2nd of 5 surgeries for something else 2 weeks ago. And for now because of that he is really a deaf guy playing a game with the use of one arm :(

Smeg will laugh at this and I know he won't object to me posting it. The point is this. It was harder for him to build an inventory than many of us. He then put much of the inventory in the corp hangar to share with members who could use what he had but couldn't quite afford much yet.

Some would say that if u put it there then be prepared to lose it and he was. They also say be careful who you trust, he was.

So Master Shawn comes into a corp with a Deaf one armed generous CEO and shafts the F*** outta him and all the members. Yes, I know, it's laughable, but it actually happened and the shawn guy knew all of this and still did it.

We are talking low here folks :/

Actually you are the one taking this "out of the game" by crying that you are deaf and saying how that somehow entitles you to special treatment in a video game. Scamming is encouraged in EVE so the scammer is playing EVE perfectly fine.

You can take this as a lesson and learn from your mistakes or quit and just get scammed again.

As he's a scammer, public opinion already means peanuts to him. Plus, the general thinking in Eve goes along the lines of "someone who was easily separated from his ISK didn't deserve it anyway".

If you want to get back at him, though, use the C&P forums. I don't see what makes your case special, or why you had to mention deafness or anything.

When team speak is involved in a game like this, the deafness makes everything just that bit harder got. But in saying that the end result is the same and so you have a fair point. There is no difference. A thief is a thief. And a post about it is warranted.

The scam however remains the same. And if a guy works hard plays hard to earn it or even if he spends real money on ccp plex to pay for it then whats the difference between the thief who ccp don't punish and the other people out there who ccp do punish for getting isk by botting rmt'ing and in this case by simply stealing what someone could have paid real money for.

Because one of those things is against the EULA.

As for the court of public opinion, more people will applaud him than will condemn him.

Having a disability is not a shield against anything in-game, and attention-seeking behavior doesn't help.

The difference is that one of those is allowed by game rules and the other is not. Also, botting/RMTing harms the economy and rewards no-effort shortcuts. Did you know scamming is surprisingly hard, and not a reliable source of income?

Eve is a game where you can't ever fully trust anyone unless you're able to find them IRL and kick them in the nuts. And even then, not fully. That is one of the points of the game. It introduces new ways to play, new pitfalls, and more personal dynamics. And the best part? None of it has to do with real life.

Games that do not feature legal scamming are a dime a dozen. Go play one of those, or deal with it and HTFU.

king of the post lol. Honestly I agree, no reason to bring in being a deaf player into it. It was just used against me and I thought it was a pretty snivvely thing to do. I learnt my lesson. nuff said. I dont post in forums much and I thought at the time that it would feel good to ventilate.

anyways I consider it all water under the bridge and wont post further.

Lesson learned.

After surgery, you shouldnt be playing EVE - or anything. If by your own account being in that situation made you more prone to error, playing a game where errors can have real consequences isnt the smartest choice.

That said, hope you stick around and sport a thickier skin.

Hell, I was almost got scamed once via trade window over a maelstrom, haha, luck me i was keen to notice the value alterations.
