In which way do I confuse this with WoW? No, I can't say I feel like a black woman trapped in a white man's body. Where did you get that from?

Listen, I have no problems with insults - I actually applaud good ones - but could you people at least make an intelligent effort?

I unsubbed over Incarna. I came back after Crucible because EVE was going in the right direction again. I am NOT afraid to vote with my wallet.

Race and name changes are the peak of carebearism. Carebearism is all about no risk for lots of reward.

Essentially, you're asking CCP to make the game easier for you because you can't HTFU and deal with the consequences (what few there are) of picking Minmattar as your race. You're just as bad as hulk pilots complaining that they deserve 300k EHP tanks while fitting a full mining setup.

How will it become easier for me? Please, enlighten me, because I was under the impression that I wanted to change faction to change appearance and lore-background due to avatars giving us personalities, but perhaps you are under another impression.

You chose to be a Minny! You want to change because for some reason you feel dissatisfied with that. Instead of rolling a new toon you come here to whine and complain that CCP should let you pull a full on identity change and become Caldari.

If they let you do that, it's a slipper slope towards name changes and other things that will negatively affect the sandbox. This game works because all actions have risks and rewards, and there are always consequences.

Without reading the rest of the replies, I can guess you got a lot of negative replies, along the lines of "choice and consequence" and all that bunk that people here have been regurgitating for close to a decade now. The simple truth of it is, there is absolutely no reason why name change, race change or faction change shouldn't be implemented as a paid service. Aside from CCP's unwillingness to make money, that is.

Let's look at the "your name can't be changed because of your reputation in the game". Two words: Character Bazaar. I can make a Tengu pilot, behave like a total dork, then turn around and sell my character and buy a brand new Tengu pilot. Leaving my old name and notoriety behind, and re-entering the game as someone else to wreak more havoc. So much for "your name is your identity". If CCP was serious about this, they would assign one tag to a real physical person (name and address on the bill for the original game purchase), and use that to ID players. Then, and only then, would a character name mean anything.

Sex change? Goes along with the name change. Again, make a male Tengu pilot. Get tired of him. Sell him. Buy a female Tengu pilot. Viola, name + sex change. All within the rules. It's already being done. So why not simply sell a sex or name change as a service? More $$$ for CCP.

Race change? Again, goes with name + sex change, but it is even more meaningless. Really, what does race affect in EVE? Nothing! My character is a Caldari who is bloody HATED by the Caldari and Amarr, and loved by Gallente and Minmatar. And I mostly fly Gallente drone boats, for crying out loud! So what does race mean? Nothing! So why not allow us to change it, again as a paid service? What would be so horrible about Jame Jarl Retief changing from Caldari Deteis to Gallente Intaki?! More importantly, would anyone even friggin' NOTICE? I highly doubt it.

Heck, you could make skill refunds a paid service too. At this point I can hear the roar of bittervets already, which makes it all the more funny. Guess what? Character Bazaar! Look, I make a char, and I get him to 10 mil SP in drones. I decide I don't like drones. So I reroll, months of training down the drain. Choice and consequence? Methinks not! What I do is sell my character, and buy a character with 10 mi SP in missiles, which is what I want. And in the process I get: a new identity (char name) and possibly a new race AND gender change! Not one or two or three but FOUR birds with one stone!

Bottom line, you'll be fed a lot of bunk in this thread, but logically there's really no reason to keep things set in stone as they are. Just look at Blizzard. They're making millions selling virtual ponies to morons. There's no reason for CCP not to offer these things as a paid service, not for ISK or AUR but cold, hard cash. And people will do it. Free money with very little work. But nooo...EVE is cold and harsh. And in the vacuum nobody can hear you make logical arguments!

It makes it easier in your warped mind. You've convinced yourself you need to change races to be happy. Also, I am not going to regurgitate all the reasons why changing identities is bad for the sandbox. Those threads cropped up every week for a while, search is your friend.

A quick story, for lulz.
I was gallente when I started.

I discovered caldari and learned their ships, shield tanking, and became friendly to their agents.
I was in caldari fw against the gallente as an FC for a while.

I am now KOS in gallente space.

However, I have never begged CCP to make my toon caldari.
