As the title says
For someone who mainly focus on PVE and plans to do some light pvp in the future
which one is the most cost effective?

why the Raven?
how is it better?
beside from the one more launcher?
does that justify it being 3 times more expensive than the SNI?
sooo many question left unanswered

I did the same question two weeks ago.

In my experience and after doing some maths, for a low sp toon and not so wealthy wallet, the SNI is way better for its cost.

Also the better tank allows you to make a few mistakes, and the whole 8 mids allows you to fit target painters to equal cruise damage projection against med and small targets.

And it is way cooler than the CNR

When you have better skills, and a wealthier wallet, the CNR is better, but as they said to me, just by a nose lenght, so you could stay in the SNI forever if you want to.

The SNI can put up an epic tank but its dps leaves alot to be desired. For PvE DPS is king and a Raven will put out enough DPS for you to not need to worry about tank.

Now this requires decent skills. Therefore as a newer player it May be safer to go the tanky route until your missile skills are high and then move over to the Raven.

what about the ECM bonus?
what do I train to use them effectively for PVE?

you want the navy scorpion, not the regular one.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Doing lvl 4 missions is about optimising your DPS, not your tank. Doing more dps means you complete missions faster and thus your isk/hour will be better. Having more tank doesn't do much if you already had enough tank to begin with.

Result, for lvl 4 missions the SNI is a waste of money but the CNR IS worth the isk.

If you have good skills then yes, but if you have 1,5 month worth skills, the SNI allows you to access the L4 income with L3 herpy derpy play.

And it is quite cheaper than the CNR.

My SNI paid herself in less than a week. In a drake it took me 3 weeks to get enough money just to buy the SNI.

Even on low SP you can make the raven tank lvl 4s just fine, you don't NEED the SNI tank at all.

SNI, it's fun for PvP and now with the booster driven sheild reppers its just dumb. I've played station games in one for some time now and have never lost it, Even Vs multtple nadow/malsorms. Its only draw back is that even with the webb drones and the webb and the TP it DPS with torps is kinda pathetic. How ever it makes an amasing distraction/bait ship.
As far as PvE go's get a rohk waiting for missles is snores vill just train up guns, burn away, and profit.

I wanted to paint my space ship red, but I couldn't find enough goats.

That is true, you don't need it. The difference between the standard raven and the SNI is that you will have better tank with the SNI and you will be safer to herp derp as any newb usually does.

I was planning to buy a raven and then go for the CNR; but i had enough money to get the SNI when i fnishied the skills for cruises and BS so i tried the second.

I will get the CNR afterwards, but the SNI is a good entry boat for safe L4 if you can spare a little bit more ISK (but not that much)

so the SNI
is the ultimate rookie Battleship for someone who have a more than generous budget?

Depend on how you fit your ship, if you go for a cruise missile fit and permatank it SNI can in some case due more dps then a cruise fit permatank CNR. HOWEVER CNR is more a trop boat then a cruise boat and would be a waste of ship bonus if you fit cruise instead. Be aware though, even with T2 javelin trops there will still be some npc that can kite you.
