That's precisely it. The problem didn't manifest itself until thousands were online at the same time. Our engineers were at work way into the late evening working furiously to fix the problem, basically keeping the server alive with some sort of hero magic, while working on a permanent fix. The fix was then deployed late last night and allowed the server to be taken off life support.

I swooned a little when I met them at work today.

And yet, it's not fixed...at all......Shocked

Is it embarrassing to be this bad...and not be willing to admit your don't know crap about programming?

The chats are fixed? mine are still full of offline players :/ even after restarted my client/PC...

If that wasn't what was fixed then what was?

Edit: would like to add however that this bug is in no way gamebreaking, anybody who has spent any great length of time in a wormhole like myself is used to not relying on local...

So I'll just sit back and laugh at all the carebears docked up because they don't dare to rat without local.

Doesn't look like it's been a complete fix. Several folk in my corporation are logged off, but still appear in the Corporation and Local channels, even though the contacts watch list shows a red circle next to their names. One person appears to be logged in simultaneously with two characters from the same account, which should quite definitely be impossible. Relogging and clearing cache has no effect. It's most definitely a server-side thing.

But props for the speedy response. This release has had a rather unfortunate number of issues, but hopefully they'll be resolved over the next few days.
There were two issues, one was causing load and the other ghost entries. We fixed the load issue but are still working on the ghost issue.

Hai, world of tanks gets 20k on their test server, maybe you can ask them for help.

Bai.

HEROS? okay, should have let the server go down, would have rather had free XP than ****** local, ****** chat chans, ****** UI poping up on every jump... etc etc etc.

Nice job just saying "we put the fix, and it did not work"

Smells like dominion all over again with the lag that could never be sorted out.

In a way it's our fault for not hitting the test server so bugs like this can pop up.

This is why I say in software development "the best test is a field test".

Perhaps some incentive is needed to get people into the test server.

Ponies?

I too like to kiss the Dev's ass when they tell us "everything is fine".

Careful though, your nose is going to need bleaching soon.

And I am a programmer, I would be embarrassed to inflict my customers with fail patch after fail patch. But then, intelligent people wouldn't put up with it for this long...and ask for more....Cool

Perhaps they will just say they fixed it, and then forget about it....Kinda like this.

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=62696

Still not fixed, and even worse than ever. You can now warp to 0 on station, decloak, and have it tell you, "you fail to dock because you are cloaked"

This is just one of dozens of annoying bugs that apparently aren't even being looked at.......What?

Am I the only one that likes having imperfect Intel? People have actually been out in space with other people in local for a change, usually they dock up or find an empty system.

Last night I saw more people running missions, belt ratting and mining than ever before in my life. I had always assumed these people were just permanently AFK features of certain systems, turns out they normally just cloak up or dock whenever anyone else is in local.

Seeing them out in space has been nice for a change, and it makes a nice change from the usual monotony of having to wait until they move systems and grab them on gate.

Hey Bob, why haven't you applied at CCP to teach them how to make program?

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. Either way, very nice response time. Logged off player ghosting in channels isn't a terribly big deal, but still looking forward to when it will be fixed.

Haven't you been reading these posts? This is a terrible response time. The devs should have had the fix out 2 minutes after the expansion went live and also should have been communicating with the forums the entire time they were doing it. And since they didn't now everyone is mad and quitting eve.

They couldn't afford me. Cool

Besides, based on what I see, they have stretched themselves too thin, and are unable to spend the man-hours to do things right the first time, or at least the second. Why would I want to put myself into that type of disaster waiting to happen? Lol

Sad part is, I like EVE, it has so many possibilities, but CCP seems enchanted with shiny stuff, and not the least bit interested in gameplay. What other game company would sell "Lag" as a feature....
