New sound changes

So it seems that the sound scaling for turrets has been tweaked when zooming in and out of your ship.

The problem now is that the volume is too low.

Now you have to be zoomed right in so you've got a screenfull of ship before you can distinguish your own turret effects from the new and improved loud missile explosions hitting you.

Used to like hearing my ac's firing, and although it was kind of glitchy when zooming in and out you could still find a point that it was functional.

Now I'm a "eve has sound?" convert.

Someone has never got to low structure?

I've been experiencing issues with turret sounds after downtime. Turret sounds are 50% of time off. Can't hear them at all. When I hear turret sounds they are normal. This issue is with Heavy Pulse Lasers. Haven't tested yet with other turrets.

I'm sure our sound people will be thrilled that they are getting feedback, no matter the reason. I'll pass this on to them to take a look.

Now I've had time to test with Dual Light Pulse Lasers too. And sound is missing sometimes. To get turret sounds back I have to zoom in as close as it goes. After that sounds work just fine. Issue appears randomly after undocking. Redocking + undocking doesn't fix it.

I think either the missile impact sound effects need to be lowered in volume, or the scaling for the turret sound effects needs a boost in volume and range applied from ship.

Agreed with OP and on somewhat related note instead of me begging for old 1400mm sound to return I am more interested in...

Is that sound still in game data somewhere and if so can it be extracted and moded to overwrite current sound file simple yes or no is good enough.

Only sound that scared reds and blues away :D

Add some low end frequency to some of the gun sounds. Those 1400s should shake my walls.

Honestly I'd just like to hear some deeper, more throaty sounds from projectiles in general. The battleship sized artillery (1400's) sounds a bit weak, to be honest, and considering the sheer shock power of the weapon system itself it should have some serious grunge behind it's noise level as well.

Also it would be nice if a rack of 425 autocannons didn't sound like a rusty washing machine rolling down a hill, and more like a hail of bullets.

Take some inspiration from modern weapons systems with a high RoF- it would make perfect sense for some of the smaller, more rapid-fire guns to simply roar (even in short bursts) when they fire, rather than us being able to hear each individual report of the weapon. Visually nothing would need to change as, realistically, you would still only see every couple of rounds if you simply assume the visible projectiles (atleast for smaller ships) are tracers.

Lastly, it would be nice to see some much more visible muzzle flash for such primitive weapons.

Honestly, all the above mentioned effects are highly representative of the Minmatar as a relatively brash or supposedly "primitive" race with less than perfect weapons systems.

This, damn it.

It won't even take that much work.

Step 1) Go the the UK.
Step 2) Find a Challenger tank that's firing for whatever reason.
Step 3) Record the incredible, eardrum-slamming, earth-shattering boom of an actual cannon
Step 4) Make artillery sound like that
Step 5) ???
Step 6) Profit!

I actually like the new sound scaling more then before. It's helpull as a FC to be able to hear peeps talking better for me. the grunts though in the fleet may feel differently?

Any news on the problems of Eve voice lately? I've had a >50% increase in problems of fleet members joining Eve Voice since the patch ( they can still hear eve sounds but not voice comms Sad )

All I heard was the new missile sounds, loud booms in silence.

Great work with the sound design, they did sound very good, but relative levels need to be fixed.

I personally hope Gal drones and blasters get some sound designer love soon. Drones sound like dying elephant babies in heat, and blasters like toyguns. Inappropriate, I say.

Can you tell them also that on the Mac side the stargate bug is back from vacation? In other words, jumping trough results in a big sound burst as if I'm standing next to a high traffic highway. I think I even noticed it undocking from stations. What?

YES for 1400s to sound more terrifying
YES to making ac's less washing machine-ey(?)

I also can't hear my lasers sometimes, be it pulses or tachs.
