Let's think a moment what you did with walking on the stations, and why the launch failed so hard.

...

Now, let's take a look what you did with this new inventory system.

1) Publish feature which is still somewhat work in progress
- judging by how slowly it seems to load hangars that contain lot of stuff and overall stupidness; doesn't remember filter when changing hangar views or what windows I left open when I left the station.

2) Force it on
- Yeah, you can press shift to get multiple windows, but why the **** I should need to press extra buttons to get things done how I want? And this peace of **** closes them all when docking/undocking?!

Now, excuse me, but I feel like I'm looking at a damn ugly and horrible door again.

This new inventory upgrade would have been nice if you had done it the right way: just added the index and let the inventory windows behave as they did before and only open stuff in the same window if clicked through index

If I click documents on my windows startup bar, i get new window for that, my other window with picture folder open doesn't change to showing me documents folder.

Make a more polite Thread title, your post is actually right now without demonizing the functionality of the new window. Only how it was implemented.

Thread surprized me, this does deserve it's own thread. now mature up the title.

Umm... an obvious problem here, related to the new inventory system (which, in itself, I think is potentially a really cool thing):

1. Click Inventory to open it.
2. Shift-click a category, say, Ship Hangar once the Inventory is open
3. Close Inventory
4. Tell me how to reopen Inventory with your mouse while the Ship Hangar window is still open?

I know you can reopen it with a keypress combination. Having a workaround doesn't make this any less a usability issue.

What new window? I can't stay connected long enough to find the damn thing.

They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way! Did I mention, I used to live in Chicago?

yeah, but that doesn't make the Utility itself bad. They released it unfinished.

If you're undocking in EVE you're playing the game wrong. You may as well just turn sound on as well and make yourself look really dumb.

Incarna had very little impact on actual gameplay, it was just dumb.

This is dumb and broken and we have been telling CCP how dumb and broken it is for literally months and they didn't listen.

Yeah it's called Itunes, it's an Add On though and not officially supported by CCP but you can play Harden The **** Up by Permaband to make CCP happy.

OP,

Yep, I am having a definite Incarna flashback to last year right now. The expansion definitely has some of that same old feel to it. Though you have to admit it is nowhere NEAR as bad as Incarna was. Incarna added zero new modules, didn't improve gameplay one iota, and so on. While Inferno added some eye candy, some new modules, changed wars and FW, etc. Granted, not a lot of folks give a hoot about FW, but still.

What I am left wondering now though is the anomaly that is Crucible. Incarna was bad, I'll give you that. Inferno is iffy. On one hand, it has some nice features, on the other hand as you point out the inventory has a definite Incarna-ish feel to it, and is a flashback to the old Incarna-era CCP.

So, the question is, was Crucible a change for the better within the company, and Inferno's inventory a fluke? Or did Crucible prove to be too much and Inferno is just CCP going back to its Incarna days of "we don't care what you think, we did it this way, we think it's better, and if you don't like it GTFO"? Because there was TONS of negative feedback on test server forums regarding the inventory.

Don't get me wrong, Inferno has more than enough new things to fiddle with for me, though I absolutely despise the new inventory. But I can't help but wonder which way this is going to go. Because the whole inventory just reeks of the same old "push it out and fix it later" routine.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are forgetting how terrible the Incarna release was. CCP is a lot more receptive now, so I imagine a majority of the fixes that people want will be coming soon.

Out of all of the complains I've read so far, this seems to be one of the very few valid ones. Tippia made a video showing the closing and repositioning problems upon docking/undocking. It shouldn't be too difficult to implement a fix for this. One critical purpose of Carbon UI is to make the whole UI design process easier for the developers.

Again my standard question these days? WHY THE **** do you want extra windows? The entire inventory UI is designed in a way that you actually don't need extra windows in 99% of the use cases. It frees up a ton of screen real estate because you do not have to make room for a gazillion separate windows / window stacks anymore.

lol, come on, everyone knows the root reason that the cry babies were bawling their eyes out with Incarna is because mommy wouldn't let them buy a monocle. If the price of the monocle had been within the grasp of the "cool kiddies" everything would have been fine. But instead petualent children lashed out at everything in sight.
