Mining with the new patch/new inventory

How are people taking to mining with the new patch?

After an hour of mining, I packed it up for the night. I wasn't happy at all.

Quick summary of my setup -

Rorqual in PoS - boosting, and crushing Ore.
Drake in the Belt tanking Rats
5 Hulks. 1 hulk will switch out to an Orca at the pos every so often to haul the ore. (no need for a dedicated hauler).

7 accounts total.

Before the patch, I had no problem/no lag running the 7 accounts. I also sometimes ran an 8th that I would keep next door as a scout. Other than logging a new account in, no problems no problems with lag.

Now though, I'm finding it all very laggy. Every time I need to open up a new inventory window / new jet can window, its going really slow. For the first time ever I had times where - when I had to kick out new jet cans (with labeling), I couldn't get through them all in time and had a miner deactivate.

On top of that, hauling was really slow. Normally I warp in, grab the cans pretty quickly, and warp out - but again with the lag, opening each can was a chore. Then moving things around, etc. Dropping it back off at the PoS was just as bad. Having everything on the pos show up as an inventory slot... just ugh.

Any other similar experiences? Anyone having a better experience?

I'm having slowness moving ore around with just 2 hulks and an orca.. since it's new they may still have some programming issues they could fix.

I don't find the new inventory system better than the old one. I have a lot of containers in our hanger and sometimes run larger ops where the yields have to be kept separate.. trying to open all those cans (a real chore now) and having them reset into a consolidated window sucks.

Combine this with the orca hanger follies of last month and hulkageddon.. mining has become a pain for me.

I was never a fan of microsoft style windows though... this is just making me remember why.. at least in windows os I can turn off the "feature".

This is especially disconcerting when considering this from the patch notes:

"Client inventory performance has been enhanced greatly making it possible to work with hundreds of items without serious framerate drop."

Also I had local, corp and alliance chats vanish on me when in Jita, bug reported it and got:

"Thank you for your bugreport titled: My local, corp and alliance channels are gone

This problem that you describe is a known issue.

This is due to a currently ongoing stress issue. We hope to have it resolved very soon but you may experience diminished game performance until it is."

So, yes, they got problems.

OMG, you're complaining that you can't run 7 accounts concurrently without some lag?

hes complaining he could do it before, and now he cant, when the only variable is the inventory system.

It's about pre patch / post patch. With the lag seeming to stem around inventory moving.

Even without the lag - it still seems rather troublesome. The way the POS is handled is just with the containers now, is just... me. So much crap showing up. It also doesn't help that you can't name the POS mods. So when you have multiples of the same one, you can't differentiate them.

7 accounts to mine? I'm clearly playing this game wrong.

I tried the new inventory, it took me a short while to get my head around it and now I love it. It's certainly not slowed me down. Nothing wrong with it as far as I'm concerned. A job well done by CCP.

It only really becomes a massive problem when you have hangars with 1000's of items that don't stack, like invention hangars etc... Can take around 5 minutes just for all corp hangars to finish loading.

Horrible change and should be optional like the CQ lagfest

Edit: additionally seperate corp inventory from personal, so opening my cargohold in station doesn't try to reload every corp hangar

Well, not looking to go too far off the main topic, but yes. Now, technically only 5 are actually mining. 1 is providing boosts/rock crushing, 1 is providing rat protection/little bit of security.

However, as someone who mines (primarily) as a means to end (making isk to buy bigger **** to pvp with), and secondary (I like to build stuff), its all about isk/hour. I can pretty easily rat and make 90mill an hour + drops/salvage, or rat a little bit harder and make 120mill an hour + drops/salvage. (depends on the setup I use).

I can't imagine saving up for a super 1 miner at a time. Unless you are macro'ing/botting, which hopefully CPP has fixed at this point.

Some interesting feedback/responses - but other than the person with 2 hulks/orca, there hasn't been anything too specific. How are other people with multiple accounts/setups dealing with it? (or am I simply posting in the wrong place for that? I assume mining = industry, which is why I came here).

Agree. That is one of my complaints - as my Rorqual is sitting in a PoS crushing ore - so an orca needs to drop it off , and that is a major pain right now.

I have found the new patch a nightmare. While i was mining with 2 characters i jetersoned a can, where did it go? it attached itself to my cargo hold, after learning that i need to press the up button and click open it opened in its own window. Then i noticed my other character could not see it, i seems they could only see there own cans. After a few cans i went to collect my orca for can retrieval but where had my cans gone, they were in space but not on my overview. I hate these new changes to the way cargo and ship and the rest of the items are displayed can we have a go back button please

i'd guesstimate that it can't be that difficult to add a checkbox to the options which disables this new behaviour. if they managed it with ship spinning, they should be able to get it done with cargo.

I should buy an Ishtar.

that's assuming this is all new code, and not a rewrite of the old code. if it's a rewrite, which i believe they said it was, there is no going back with a checkbox. i'd suggest posting in the official feedback/issues threads so they can work on fixing all the issues.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.
