Does anyone have a good idea on the formula used to calculate the estimated price in the inventory window?

I believe its some form of average of the sell price throughout New Eden

I was under the impression it was the same way that Insurance and "Base Price" for contracts were calculated, so an overall average.

In other words, relatively useless.

ETA: It could be helpful if there was a way to set the scope of the averaging (i.e. region, constellation, system, etc).

not useless - once you get corp hangar access every second counts.

now ccp gives you the tools to make a split second decisions on which hangars/containers to empty first and which ones to leave for later

whether prices are off by 5-15% is not really important in that "story"

.

LOL. OK, "situationally useful."

The window appears to be a 6 month median or average of some sort, so other than being better than base cost, it isn't really anything meaningful especially with the mineral shocks that happen so frequently.

I think MD is one of the forums with the least dev posts. Don't hope too much on this.

i have no idea what data it uses but it's totally inaccurate.
i ran some checks last night and it was pricing an absolution at 210mil when it was going for 254/237 (sell/buy) in Jita.
other mods/ships were similarly oddly priced.

it also doesnt count fitted mods/rigs on ships which it should.

it should just use lowest Jita sell price to calc the value. (lets face it, no one cares about prices anywhere else.)
(or at the very least highest buy)

yea its completely off.

it prices a "Mark I Generator Refitting: Shield Power Relay " at 2,8Mil, but its only worth 100k.....and i really can't find any explanation WHY its priced that high. It never was priced like that in the last 3 months, highest was 500k.

I just did a little checking with my trade alt. The estimates are pretty borked. Some are too high, while others are too low. Funnily enough though, the total value of my hangar bay actually ended up not being far off from what it was actually worth. :o
