Future Tier Changes and some Sniper love

TO the devs that are making radical changes to the game. First of all thank you, the changes are quite fun and a fresh change.

Secondly, I was wondering and definately hoping that snipers might get some love. I dont mean 50-70 tier 3 battlecruisers. Im talking about the 150-200km Battleships. Right now all the mechanics make this a viable option except ONE GLEARING MECHANIC.

That mechanic is probing. It is too easy and way to fast to probe ships in pvp scenarios. Say a 1400 mael fleet comes in to a gate to attack a HAC or Hellcat fleet coming in. All the incoming fleet has to do is align towards the snipers and under 20 seconds.... given probe launch time, scan time, and warp time....... the close range fleet will be on top of the snipers.

I know that frigs can burn to them or cloaky ships can try to get behind them for warp ins. I dont mind this at all, that shows good pilots and skill, However I really believe that being able to probe and warp ontop of someone in 20 seconds is completely broken. Maybe Im alone on this subject, however I truely do hope that you will give snipers some thought in the upcoming chnages.

Thank you,

Wild

Sniping will never work for 2 reasons :
- you need something to tackle the baddies at 200km. It's easier (for the FC at least) to keep the fleet at the same spot (ie not having short tacklers dying at short range and the other buddies shooting stuff from far away). A good thing would be a battlecruiser-sized dictor, shooting large bubbles at long ranges (a perfect lachesis can point at 100km, which is a bit short).
- you need to keep them at range. The only problem is, as you said, probing. Sadly, making a module/ship/banana that disturbs warp-ins would have a lot of consequences, including a return of unprobable ships in missions/escalations (for example). Or something like the drag effect of an anchorable bubble but at a larger scale : every bot user and sanctum carrier (or both) would abuse them.

EDIT : posting in a DHB thread, **** yes Pirate

Probing isn't too easy and you can (easily) defend yourself by defensive bubbling.

^this.

if youre sniping **** that isnt bubbled or dont have defensive bubbles placed infront of/behind youre fleet then youre probably doing it wrong.

Warp a covops (a tactical, or if the fight is at a planet, on an empty moon), unload a few combat probes, hit "scan", profit. Unless you're fighting some AHAC you don't even have to move the probes
The biggest problem is the insane lag I got when getting the probing result.

Probing in combination with the minimum warpdistance of 50k (warp to 100 at 150k) It will only get worse when the microjumpdrive is introduced.
