The SHIFT + click is a good addition, but what it really does in many circumstances is just add an extra action you need to do to access your stuff.

But the bottom line is: the former system worked. Why change a system which was so simple and worked great and replace it with a big clutter of tabs?

Yes, it would be usable - if you personally do that shift click for me every time I redock, in some quickie quickie way.

You see, your infinite wisdom missed one small thing. it does not stay here.

if I told you that you had to shift click to launch eve how long do you think it would take you to get annoyed, I imagine your answer would be the same as how long it took me to hate the new assets hangar FYI its ****-ING INSTANTLY

or right click, open new window.
it's the same as the show info thing, and honestly if CCP is smart they will add an option to make the defualt click open a new window and make shift click change the window.

Just like show info has a check box for this in the menu, so should the new item UI

why are you so eager to defend CCP's stupid decision, do you want a dust beta key that bad?

I also like the new inventory system. With a few more tweaks it'll be way better than the POS we use to have.

Close new Item window, fly to pos object you want to open cargo, hold shift and click the open container button on the top right over the overview. Just like you used to but now, holding... shift! it should open a NEW WINDOW, for that pos container, or whatever it is. Then you can pen any other window, in fact you can run a POS right now on TQ, without ever seeing the new UI.

This being the case the easy route for CCP is to have an option for the Shift version as default and use Shift to get the new combined screen.

I looted a mission, enemies abound part V. I shift double clicked all the loot containters so I could hit the "loot all" button repeatedly to speed things up: instead it didn't, it took a few seconds per container to empty it, causing short freezes of the game.
Then I hit the "stack all" option (this mission has a lot of tags) and my game totally frooze over, I had to close it through windows to get out.

Seriously, UI being inconvenient is one thing but freezing and crashing the game makes it intolerable.

i WANT the eve UI to MOVE FORWARD, you're arguing that windows 3.1 UI, is fundamentally better than windows 7. Listen I HATE eve online. and I HATE CCP. The past 3-4 years have not been very good on a bitter vet. So if CCP shows even the tiniest sign that they can think and move eve out of 2004, I will fight for it. I haven't played eve for 3.5 years. I'm sticking around just to see how much this expansion changes things. If it's fun with the new war changes and reports, I might just stay. But I've tried to get back into eve before but the terribad UI always got in the way.

CCP need to redeem themselves. So far with this new UI they haven't, but not because it's wrong, but because it's broken. too intrusive, instead of being an attention that makes life easier.

Sorry if I'm not a whinny person who fears change and can't stay objective.

My inventory is also opening now whenever I jump through a stargate. This is a bug and not my real concern but if they never changed it in the first place then nobody would be having this problem. And for those of you who say you like it need to get off CCP's jock.

I prefer the consolidated inventory. There's nothing more annoying than having 20 windows open.

Also: Shift click to open new window.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

It is just more complicated, harder to use, requires more clicks and many more windows for people who deal with corp hangers and POS structures constantly.

The original system was easier and more functional IMO, and I have been trying, I really have.

Exactly! Just like the show info button. Seriously CCP, the new UI is great, but you need to FIX IT NOW, or pull it/make it optional until it's fixed. windows need to stay put when I dock. I want neocom buttons to open windows, I want holding shift to be togglable.

but I also want my new containers heaven

gah your not listening. CCP can change the new item UI, to do what you want. I'm trying to say this new UI is not as terrible as you think, it's just poorly implemented.

System should work just like old eve items UI, BUT, every window can have a tab on the left that clicking opens and closes the new items UI, in that window.

Just like real windows 7. It should be a tool, because it is a super useful tool if you'd just give it a chance. However i'm not saying the way CCP did it, and whats in game is right either. It needs to be modilfied heavily, but it's useful damn it! It's amazing, and we need the functionality in game.

functionality good

implementation bad

…and I'm saying that the poor implementation is what makes it terrible. In particular, the lack of support for multiple windows makes it horrible as an inventory management system — that one oversight represents a metric fuckton of lost functionality.

Having to come up with all these work-around (shift-click among them) just shows how many issues there are.

This.

I have POSes - 3 in 1 system - all with loads of mods like guns. Can i find my lab? Can i arse!

Also - only being able to have 1 window open without using the shift key? Who on earth designed this thing?:

"I know, lets only have 1 window and no obvious way of having 2 windows open cos no one ever wants to see the contents of 2 containers at the same time!!"

Ugh

Seriously CCP: Add an option to turn POS guns/etc off (or just bloody remove them!!) and give us a neo-com icon to open the bloody inventory!

(Also sort out the "open drone bay" "open fuel bay" etc etc buttons on right click menu that have vanaished for no reason!!)

It was pap on test - it's pap here too :(

I guess the conversation went like this.

"What about allowing users to have multiple windows open?"
"But.. but.. unified ..."
"Just do it, it might get annoying to be forced into a single window."
*adds shift+click*
"Screw you too, buddy. EVE is supposed to be Hard."
