So I saw someone AFK tanking a COSMOS complex with an ishtar the other day and letting sentries farm the pirates.

The first thing I did was calculate is income . . . about 10 million per hour . . . 200 Million a day just sit AFK.

My next thought was . . . Someone needs to gank his AFK ass. Why not me?

Never tried this before so I has hoping to get some useful feedback (along with the obvious flames).


Here are the numbers that I came up with and some thoughts that I had to crack his shield

A little recon showed that he is pretty well buffer tanked
3 x Large Shield Extender II
1x Invul Field II
1x Explosive Damp II
Damage Control II
Power Diagnostics II
3x Shield Power Relay II

My first though was to bring in some Thrashers . . .

Assuming he has 43.8K EHP to fusion ammo with 218 HP/Sec regen.
And not counting on the DPS from the pirate ships because I am worried about timing.

And assuming that I have 20 (.5 system) seconds before concord arrives, I will need 10 Thrashers to take him out

That's not going to happen . . . My next thought

Take out Sentry Drones with a Disco-Destroyer . . .
at 480 Damage per pulse I should be able to get approx 950 - 1400 Damage per destroyer

With the Sentries down, I can reship, wait for concord to de-spawn, then take out the rest of his shields with EMP thrashers. The pirates should finish him off after that.


Any other thoughts on a cheap way to take him out? (less than say 50 million, 4 characters max?)

Update -

Well, the threat has been neutralized and good times were had by all (well except maybe the guy in the ishtar).

Anyway, I used my unused alt slots to train up 4 thrasher alts. 3 days training, about 250 dps each.

I figured I good names were key so "Gankatron 3000, Gankmaster Mike, ect" jump into system and head to the complex. I figured that anyone not AFK would realize a gank *might* be coming and safe up.

Upon entering the complex I see that #not_very_smart_pilot# is still sitting there with is Ishtar pounding away a rats. I figure he must be afk (or he wouldn't still be sitting there). I have my thrashers line up behind him, target him, scan his fittings, and wait for the next wave of NPCs to spawn.

Then I realize he's not afk. He slow boats over to is sentries, then back to his orbit point, then warps out of the room.

I figure, oh well, it's the weekend, he's near his computer and noticed me in system, I'll just have to catch him later.

I start up a conversation, which he briefly replies too, and I basically tell him. "you're making loads of ISK off this complex, I want a cut of it to not blow you up". He responds with a "f*#k you" AND GOES RIGHT BACK TO FARMING THE COMPLEX.

I warp my thrashers back in to check and like up for another attack run. I'm seriously sitting there with my thrashers, lined up behind his ishtar like baby ducks, all with character with "gank" in their name, after telling him I'm going to blow him up, and he just collects room aggro and starts to farm away. Very brave or very stupid . . .

Never having ganked anyone before I wasn't sure exactly how to do it, so I just spool up all 4 alts at the same time and open fire. Well before I could figure out what happened his 400 million istar is gone and the rats are ripping my ship to pieces. Concord didn't even have time to show up. I forgot to smartbomb his pod or even have another alt ready to pick up the loot. Oh well, lessons learned . . .
