I for one am extremely glad that ship design is NOT in the hands of the players. I think the races have extremely nice flavor and variety, some cool, some weird, some ugly, but they all have character and a theme for the race

And the hound is VERY cool and VERY Minmatar.

well, my hound has 3 siege launchers fitted
the model shows 6 launchers (3 on each side)
only 3 of them (one side only) ever fire

hell the hound only has 5 high slots, but 6 animated hardpoints

tell me again how great the art department is

So I'm not really apposed to updating ship models but a 100% redesign of my Nemesis without even updating the 2d image associated with it is amateur at best. You took all that time to replace my ship model but couldn't take a few hours to replace the 2d icon image? Seriously i would fire any project manager in my company that would accept this as a professional business practice. This a failure of planning pure and simple there is no excuse for this there is no way CCP is so understaffed that it couldn't change out a god damn 2d image. Pathetic.

Actually every single ship even mining ships do this. In fact all ships in eve have done this since release (that i can remember anyway). You don't notice it with missiles because it used to be just a puff of smoke then missiles moving. If they didn't all turrets would have to be placed in the middle of the ship it would be impossible to shot to your right with a turret on your left unless it went through your ship (a bigger fail on the art dept). So they did it correctly.

Yeah fair enough, getting rid of the sails ruined any appeal I had for the ship.

But hey, ultimately a ship is flown based on its merits in combat, not its looks.

That's odd, hound has all the correct 2d assets

perhaps you have a cache issue

and as for the rest....
well, ultimately Kratisto is 100% correct

Are you a moron? Does the Machariel have 7 turret hardpoints or 8? It has 7, despite having 8 high slots. a Hound with 3 on each side is EXACTLY how all other ships are designed... christ.

and ok, so its always been like that, one would think that a remodeling pass would provide ample opportunity to address that somewhat disturbing graphical issue.

Minmatar starship engineers should have hired Gallente or Caldari designers for some input! Not the Amarrians though. Their ship looks like a beetle.

The Nemesis looks like something from Wing Commander. They drew the long straw on this one. Great look.

There we go, it was just a cache issue. Not sure why didn't clear that right away. Makes me feel much better :). Seriously though CCP clear your god damn caches if you are going to introduce a new model. If a user has had to do it you failed user interaction 101 regardless of where you learned to program.

You know what would be even uglier? Missiles popping out of the far side of your ship and flying *through* it before heading to the target.

There's a reason every hardpoint has 2 visible locations modelled. It's so you don't ever see your layzors firing through your own ship trying to get at the target on the other side.

Every ship in EvE ever since i've been playing has always has twice the turrets to the amount of turrets actually fitted.

Clearly you're one of those Faildari pilots that never fly anything with real weapons on it and just live in your missile boats, but it's completely normal for a 3 launcher spot boat to show 6 launchers. (3 each side).

Although I do kinda stand by you with the designs of some of these, I am not a big fan of the direction the art department have gone with these stealth bombers too many curves, not enough sharp lines on the design. Looks a bit girly.

Wow! I could think of a couple ways they could have improved the design.

1.) Keep the launchers on the side; however, move the "antennae" centered to the top and bottom of body.

or,

2.) Move the launchers to the top and bottom of body and move the "antennae" to the sides of the body.

to me, looks like a designer got a little lazy and "lego'd" the hound together.


The other ships look really awesome. I had hoped that they would look more like a big brother version of the drone fighter ships.
