Diablo 3 is a terrible game, STOP PLAYING IT!

Like title says, it's totally unplayable because of the lag, DC's and server failure. And when you actually manage to login it's one big grindfeast. The story is too boring and short and after that you're just mend to play it over and over again. There is no customization and the 5 classes is way to little to keep you busy. On top of that the graphics are **** and the customer service is even shittier. If you don't believe me check the EU forum during the server failure today. No support at all and no communication about what was going to happen and it took them the whole day to get the servers back on. Don't buy this game and if you have already made the mistake of buying it, just leave it on the shelf, the box art is better then the game it self!
Now with that said, hopefully the servers will become a bit less crowded, so I'll be able to play :-P

Since when did games being bad stop people from playing them?

Look at SWTOR and WoW Lol

YOU DID NOT JUST say SWTOR on this forum.

A more relevant question how many players online on EVE at one time is ideal for game performance?
I read the dev thread on buring Jita and they give clues to lag issues on one node when time dilation effects kick in to try to limit lag. It appears that happens at around 1500 people on one node at the same time. Granted that was an unususal event.
But how many players would it take before lag became a general problem everyday in some of the more packed locations like Jita? I think the devs have stated that Jita does occasionally get busy enough to hit some time dilation effect without an event like burn Jita. Which would seem to me then that we are right about at peak capacity right now when we hit the low 40,000 players online at the same time.

To be sure we could pack a lot more players online but at what cost to lag/time dilation effect daily all over EVE?
So what is the sweet spot?

On Sunday I fluffed a gank and logged off to wait out my GCC timer. I didn't log back on as, well, D3 happened all afternoon.

Clearly CCP need to buff suicide ganking to stop people logging off!

I hope CCP instead makes it so that the GCC timer does only count while you are ingame ... risk vs revards after all.

The OP thinks? I was under the impression that the OP was actually 10,000 monkeys in a lab somewhere with access to a keyboard.

I haven't logged into the game in a while other than to switch skills across several accounts. It's not due to anything CCP is doing, on the contrary.. it is 100% due to where I live, and the time of year it is. You see, I live in Hawaii and we have a thing here called Tourists. I very much enjoy watching said Tourists go from Pasty white.. to such a lovely Boiled Lobster Red that it makes you weep for joy seeing it. The other benefit to living in Hawaii is that we have Wahines in Bikinis... on the beaches... year round.

So, while I dearly enjoy playing EVE, I tend to only play it anymore when it is raining, or the VOG is particularly heavy.

Aloha.

The other day I was getting tired, just then I noticed the sun was going down. This is irrefutable proof that I am able to control the sun!

This post is now about my sun controlling abilities.

In hindsight my post should have had more psssshhhh

To be honest I don't think it would be possible for enough people to subscribe and login to make TiDi go up in every system ( or even 75%). Although I am sure people subscribe in waves, at patch releases when Dust 514 comes out, etc. But the subscriber count in Eve usually climbs slowly. So if Eve got super popular and 100k more ppl subed in May, then in June 150k more people subscribed, I am sure CCP would go out and buy a bunch of new shinny servers. So before game wide TiDi went into effect I am sure CCP would buy a bunch of new servers to handle the new load.

The problem isn't purely with load, it's with load distribution. Currently load is disproportionately high in specific systems as players tend to congregate there, this issue would be exacerbated were considerably more players to join.

For example a 50% increase in subs probably wouldn't stress most Eve nodes much beyond their current limitations, I suspect a lot of nodes could easily be upgraded to handle the extra load as long as distribution was kept relatively even. But the Jita node? Now that would be interesting.

Hang on a minute.

I know 4 folks in my Local area have unsubscribed what sounds like at least 3 toons each. One was a 4 year player. This is what I gather just from Local Chat as I don't really talk to those players. And someone I've known since my first year (now their 5th year) unsubscribed 3 accounts and even has a personal email from one of the Devs asking why (apparently they do look at the cancellation reasons on the cancellation page). And I myself am taking my 4 accounts and 6 toons out of here.

And none of them (or myself) are quitting for any reason even remotely related to Hulkageddon.

They (and myself) are quitting over the nonsensical crap going on. Mainly they see themselves as not being able to progress any further into Null andother more advanced activities ever. One coalition is in control of everything worth having, everyone is blue, and not really any action left. Out of boredon, they have invaded high sec, not for real game, but lulz, while holding onto Null like a really large lollipop, out of arms reach.

Why bother. All that's left is endless repetition of the old. And it's signed and sealed to stay this way. And CCP will do whatever it takes, especially for one certain coalition, to keep them bringing in 'the news'.

CCP's solution for me was to join them. Do NOT even begin to tell me they don't want to utterly change their playerbase. Basically, when they were talking to me as I was unsubscribing, I didn't like what I heard at all. Thank god Civ 5 has a new expansion June 12.

I've played since 03 and I feel the same way as your friendsSad
any null experience I've had has been utterly boring, and completely stupid. Mostly because of local. And null is supposed to be the awesome part of the game. Wormholes are about the only thing keeping me in now. Oh, and DUST.
(If local was delayed I think it would go a long way to help solve this problem.)

I like to lick things.
