Warping Cap Use

Since I can't seem to find it anywhere, Would anyone happen to know how much capacitor a ship uses to initiate warp? Is it a set amount, a set percentage, or vary with distance?

Both Pyfa and EFT will tell you the maximum warp distance your ship can travel. This information is present in the tooltips if you hover over the warp speed area of their UI.

To calculate how much capacitor you actually consume, divide the distance you're traveling by the maximum distance and multiply by your capacitor reservoir.

Edit: It varies quite a bit from ship to ship. Caldari ships, in particular, are terrible at warping and consume a great deal of capacitor to do so.

So as a percentage, It's (Distance Travelled)/(Maximum warp distance) * 100%
of your cap to warp.
I thought it would be something like that, but I didn't want t oexperiment if it had already been done. ;)
Thank you.

Certainly. There's obviously also a formula to calculate your maximum warp distance, but one of the factors is a database constant that varies from ship to ship, so I suppose it's easiest to just tell you "check EFT/Pyfa."

Sorry I can't give you a better answer.

Do not forget to include http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Warp_Drive_Operation into the equation.

Is it current maximum capacitor, or maximum base capacitor for the hull used before taking modifiers from skillz and modules into account?

ship mass is also taken into the equation.

that's why recons have such a lousy warp distance compared to the other cruisers.

and the base warp speed is also taken into the equation, thus why ships like tackling interceptors needing such a small amount of cap to warp a considerable distance.

SOLVED: Mathemagicians needed to solve the warp-capacitor equation.

Energy to warp = warpCapacitorNeed * mass * au * (1 - warp_drive_operation_skill_level * 0.10)

The magic warpCapacitorNeed constant can be found in the database.
