The above is a very informative link about the difference between a whiner and a complainer. After you watch it you will realize that we have an overabundance of the former, many of which have already posted in this thread. By the end of it hopefully you will see that you can have an opinion and that you can voice it constructively. Also I hope that you will learn that not everybody will necessarily agree with the opinion though that does not make it wrong, it only makes it your opinion.

Try to not post in General Discussion if you want intelligent responses.

Posting a well thought out argument for something a large number of players might want will decrease your chances of getting trolled by about 2.1% or so. But it will usually generate some thoughtful responses in reply.

Speaking your mind (which usually means an emotional brain fart about getting ganked or some such) will ensure a nearly perfect troll record.

Either way, you need a fairly thick skin and the ability to ignore the chaff and find the wheat.

Wait, did the OP lose a freighter to Burn Jita, or a hulk to Hulkageddon?

Gee. I've never had this much attention while trying to date even. Even Personal Hero Quotes without asking. Why, thank you. Can I have flowers next time instead ?

Maybe I should just permanently 'threaten' to 'maybe' quit, and see how that goes, what say ??

I've seen several new player posts where what they posted about was totally uninteresting and if posted by a vet would be burned down, get lots of support and thumbs up from confirmed GD trolls

it all depends on what you say

also keep in mind that many "new players" are simply pity alts created to try and pretend that they are new customers about to unsub because of something that really happened to their main

I never get over your carebear stare.

The way I see it, EvE is alot like current American politics. No matter what you say about the game, whether it be constructive or non-constructive criticism or just suggestions to improve the game, someone from one side of the aisle will stand up and begin a relentless assault on why you are wrong, and why you are what's wrong with the game, and belittle you. Followed by members from the other side of the aisle counter-attacking and declaring why you are right and why the other side is what's wrong with the game. Meanwhile the rest of us watch the ensuing debate with mild interest, but everyone knows at the end of the day nothing productive ever gets done and life goes on.

I'm not sure I entirely agree; I have a couple of threads with serious proposals for major changes in the game that are, I'd say, 90% populated by positive and constructive responses. It is possible.

However.

It is the sad truth that most OPs don't really deserve much respect in the way of positive, constructive responses. They are generally badly typed, poorly constructed, lacking insight and demonstrate an incredible level of short-term self-centeredness.

So to answer the OP's question: yes, speaking your mind is wrong when your mind is lazy, lacking in knowledge and coherence, and unwilling to adapt it's viewpoints and axioms. YMMV. TANSTAAFL. All Rights Reserved.

This post is why people troll you. And you deserve everything you get.

Why does everyone claim to be a real life

1. Aspie
2. Sociopath
3. High IQ

and then get upset when people troll them to death.
I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.
