So I started my trial, thought fun, space, cool, then headed out, did some missions as a Gallente hoping to find some arts...but...uh...killed some pirates, grabbed some paper out of floating trash cans and then mined some ore...uh what do I do now?

Translation: I finished the starting missions, but now I have no idea where to go or what I should be doing, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I created Ave Molech and I love ponies.

insure your ship, update your clone (if not already), fit a scrambler to your frig, go to the nearest low sec system, shoot at people. When you get low on isk, go do a few missions back in high sec and rense/repeat.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

This thread really belongs in the EVE New Citizens Q&A forum.
This has nothing to do with Missions & Complexes.

True, but it doesn't hurt to ask in this sub forum.

Moistmuffin RKHT,

Completing the 10 part mission series for each of the 5 Career Agents should have gave you a basic overview on some of the careers available to you.

There's a lot more topics, information and guides available in the Evelopedia.

I suggest you go see Sister Alitura and complete the level 1 Sisters of Eve Epic mission arc - The Blood-Stained Stars.
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Epic_mission_arcs

That will give you plenty of time to check out the Evelopedia and decide which career path to choose.

Good luck and welcome to Eve.

Thanks DeMichael Crimson, those were helpful, as I'm defnitely not playing EVE to get the power up and win the game as I have done in WoW/Rift/STO/Insert fav mmo here. I'm looking for the hardest of the hardcore and actually, only playing EVE to support CCP who is making World of Darkness (I'll probably buy and play Dust too just because).

That said, I'm assuming now that the tutorials are over it seems I can just go out and do what I want so I can just go and starting mining and salvaging (the two jobs that seemed to match my play style). and then sell that on the Marketplace? Sounds good.

Yes, indeed. Well, sort of.

If yours is anything like my eve experience, you will head out and start trying to do what you want. Then you'll find you need to train a skill, or a collection of skills, to be able to do it. Then you'll find that more skills are needed to do it better, or that a lvl 5 skill is needed ... with all the attached diminishing returns. Then, suddenly, you'll discover you absolutely must have some other completely unrelated skill. Etc etc etc, and so on, and so forth.

Anyways, welcome to eve. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have / am, and I hope you can stay a little more resolute in your goals and directions than I have Big smile

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Thanks, hey one question, not really mission related...but...some Corps have invited me offering 5-10% tax, then one offered me 0 tax to join them. The 0 seemed like potential for a scam, but wasn't sure.

Aslo, GOONS would be cool to join, but I'll never pay to view somethingawful forums so doubt they'd like me.

It's not terribly unusual for corps to run with 0% tax ... just as it's not unusually for them to have 5%, 10%, 12.5%, and even (sometimes) 100% tax rates.

I guess it's all down to how and why the corp exists. If it's mainly to get a group of like-minded folk doing stuff, and has no significant overheads, then 0% may well be the way to go. If the corp provides significant facilities and services for members (cheap manufacturing, corp hangars etc) then it makes sense to try recoup some of the isk via tax.

When I was in a PvP corp, during the Jurassic period, they'd hike the tax up to 100% whenever there was a CTA running. The idea was to make sure you weren't out running missions while your combat services were needed. I'm not sure how well it worked, as most of us had specialised mission-runner alts (not in corp) to help with that income anyways.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Note: if you are not an active subscriber to somethingawful, any recruitment offers on behalf of the goons are unquestionably a scam. It is known.
