I guess one of the more surreal incidents was while doing an Incursion a guy in my fleet playing in in Japan started freaking out about everything moving & we were hearing alot of background sounds of things crashing. For about a minute he was talking about how huge a quake was hitting him. Being from California I started telling him to leave computer & head for high ground... 10-30 minutes later I was watching CNN's live coverage of the tidal waves sweeping across Japan

In a roundabout similar (but less horrifying ultimately) way while on the phone with a friend in San Jose, I discovered it takes exactly 10 seconds for the Quake Wave to travel from San Jose to San Francisco.

I wouldn't really say weird, it was to be expected, but I took part in a large fleet battle with around 1100 in local for 6 hours. I spent that time targeting, firing, dealing with module lag, hitting targets well outside my target range, failing to target targets close to me and waiting forever to warp to targets over 150k away, etc. etc.

That's not the weird part, the next day when I saw the killboard I was one of the first handful to die and had actually died within the first 3 minutes of the fight, so basically I wasted 6 hours haunting the system.

I might have had a weird moment with a guy in jita who is always asking where the naughty women are, I threw a comment out that wasn't meant to be taken seriously, the next thing I know I'm getting a convo. I didn't bother entertaining it and closed the accept window.

So close...

OMG Lol I totally believe that happened. A true moment of "Welcome to EVE Online".

Similarly, a filled Orca that actually isn't......connection dropped but client never recognized that fact.

Fellow I used to fly missions with used to type 'Wheeeee at the start of every mission.

Apparently he actually shouts 'Wheeeee' on voice as well.

Always made me laugh though.

Well dunno if this counts as weird, but my CEO once sent me 6 billion of the corps ISK by accident. He was supposed to send me 60m to pay for some fuel, so I guess he wasn't counting his zeroes

I gave it back of course, minus the sixty mil and a 40m stupidity tax Twisted

There are a lot of very lonely people in EVE who use this game as a surrogate social life.

its why they get so heated as they get emotionally attached to it.

Its a girl and they never speak to them as have no opportunity.

I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.

Someone cried when they heard a female voice? Please tell me there's a forum thread or some kind of external link where I can read more on that.

A teamspeak recording of the incident would be sublime.
