How to survive highsec war decs in thick ships

So, you just jumped into a gate gang in your Abaddon. You can reapproach, but you know they're jump through and get the kill. So....what can you do?

Step 1: Log off.

If the gang has enough DPS, you'll blow up, sorry. If you can survive one minute, you are a-ok. The caveat though is this: If you shoot or have shot a player in the past fifteen, you're screwed.

This is the definition of stupid CCP. And this is exactly what should be fixed - if a player has you pointed even if you're not aggressed, you should die. End of story.

Awww did you lose an abandon kill? This only works on the rare occasions you have enough tank to hold out for that minuet. I'm pretty sure when you log all of your mods turn off as well.

Personally I think it is a fair compromise to also help those who legitimately lost their connection. My connection dropped last night just as I was landing on a gate in Venal.

Logging off is a valid game mechanic. Deal.

Trolls spotted.

Hasn't this been fixed?
I thought that the target gets a "can't disapear" tag when it's ATTACKED.

I'm not talking about an aggro tag, but about a log-off tag.

If it isn't, then wtf is CCP waiting?

Don't feed the trolls.

Long discussion with alliance today.

So, here's the story: If you log off while pointed by another player, say, you just got caught in your freighter, you're boned. You will die, end of story. The only way this works is if you log while holding cloak. If you are logged off before you're pointed, you'll go kapoof in a minute - thusly, you jump through, see baddies on the gate, just log off while still cloaked.

Working as intended AKA ( and this is a famous Goon saying ) It's a feature, not a bug.

In your version of EVE you must play 23/7 and never logoff in space (not even in a force field).

Actually, jumping through a gate can clear your aggression despite having a 15 minute timer. It doesn't happen always, but it happens regularly enough that aggressing something on the other side of a gate before it jumps in isn't a viable strategy to keep it from logoffsking.

The deal is... there needs to be a mechanic to allow people to be safe if they loose internet connection.

Your ship disappearing after one minute if you havent agressed anything is that mechanic.
If you remove this it will create soo many support tickets and CCP's customer services will come to a grinding halt working out whose ships is fair to replace.

Next Time, bring more DPS.

If you have already picked up an aggression timer, including by being aggressed by someone else, your ship WILL be lost.

If you're sitting under gate cloak and log off, they get 60 seconds to kill you. And if they can't kill an offline baddon in 60 seconds, they're picking the wrong fights.

edit: you'll need to deal about 2,000 dps AT MOST to do the job, depending on fit and skills. That's easily accomplished with a half-dozen ships.

Not always true. Jumping through a gate has been known to clear aggro. Its not reliable enough to be guaranteed, but it happens enough that it can be considered common.
