Sorry. but I have a short and simple question about ecm drones.

When they are set to attack another players ship, do they stop that player from being allowed to target and attack you? Even if you can attack them?

Seems kinda overpowered..

Yeah... the jams can miss though, thus allowing the target

Yes, that is what they do. They have a low chance of succeeding, per drone, I suggest you look into the math behind ECM to get a good idea of exactly how they work.

Plus, drones are easy to kill. Last time I got my carrier tackled, the tengu in question killed his way through at least 15 EC-600s(medium sized, to hopefully catch him) before I finally got a jam on him and was able to warp out.

They jam the other ship so they can't target you, but you can still target them. But they are very hit-or-miss whether they work in time for them to be effective. And IF they work, they'll jam for 20 seconds. Plus they are weak. So, no, they are not over-powered.

They only have like a 15% chance of pulling it off (depending on the drone size and the ship you use them against) and once the cycle ends they can lock you again. Rare that you get a perma jam with just drones.

If that sounds OP try a scorpion, widow, falcon, rook, or a blackbird

Against hacs they can be devastating. I once lost an ahac armor zealot to a noob in a hurricane because i was permajammed by ec-300's. Took him forever to kill me, but i couldn't do anything. I would get a few shots off then jammed for 3-4 20 second cycles. Rinse and repeat until i died.

a rack of ec-300s will save your ass from time to time

I often see 4-5 abandoned ec-300s sitting off gates in null

Same. All Zealots I have lost were to scram/ Jam. I'm surprised they are used as much as they are.

Funnily enough, dornes keep attacking if if you are unable to lock.

Imagine two drakes or whatever with their drones going at it, keeping both of them jammed long enough to be unable to break the other's tank. Ugh.

ECM drones are normally used when you want to get the hell of out Dodge City

If you are dying you send out a fleet to jam your opponent and warp away. They dont always work so people carry them as a last resort
I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.
