To celebrate the new missile effects im currently in the process of building a HAM legion for pve purposes. Ive never flown the HAM legion before (or any Legion for that matter) so Im wondering how you guys think it would fair vs the turreted laser Legion as far as pve standards are concerned.

If you use its resist profile to help you against the rats (like against Angels), it is decent. Around the performance of the Sacrilege in tank and damage, while having extra utility on top.

It gets Better dps and can afford to use all 3 rig slots for missile velocity rigs and even fit a web and TP in there over the sacrilege. But all in all its a beefed up sack

The Legion is a pretty decent choice for ratting in Drones space, but if you are running anomalies, you are better off in a Paladin. It does much better DPS at the ranges that many drones like to orbit you.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Eh, I'd recommend against it. The Legion is actually disadvantaged in many areas compared to say, Tengu/Proteus.

You can however make a HAM Legion with about 250k mostly armor EHP, if you wanted to. Makes an excellent bait ship, or small gang ultra-survivability ship. You can also resist-tank a Legion very effectively, if you're flying with a couple of logis.

If you're not flying a Neut legion, Cloaky Scan Nullified Legion, or 100MN Ham legion, then the Legion is not really worth it.

For lasers the Absolution is just simply better. It has nearly equal the tank of a Legion except its EHP comes mainly from its very high resist, which makes it superior to the legion in RR gangs. (trying to put the RR sub on legion makes it suck).

The Absolution has shorter range, but you'll be fighting in warp disruptor range (24km) so the extra range doesn't really matter much since it has 22 km with scorch with heavy pulse. But it does more dps, at least a 100 more dps with its guns alone, add in the light drones that give it defense against frigates and an empty highslot to fit a small energy neut, you'll have a 200 dps difference. The Legion is short on PG, you need implants or mods to fit heavy pulse with 1600mm, the absolution doesn't.

If you're going laser the Absolution is just simply better.

Why:
More DPS
Light Drones for small ships
Nearly same tank
EHP comes from high resist, which makes it superior for RR gangs.
Half the cost of the Legion
Can fit 1600mm and full rack of Heavy Pulse Lasers without running out of PG
Don't lose SP when blown up
Not a big of a gank me target as legion

Legion has little advantages:
More range, but its just an expensive zealot with 10% more dps and a bit more tank.
Faster and Easier to train for.
Dissolution sequencer for ECCM without slot, Tactical Targeting for fast locking.
