launcher complains like old lady instead of working

eve launcher does not work any more. upon launching the app i get a mile long error message starting with

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/launcher.py", line 43, in

TypeError: string indices must be integers, not str


and so on. what can i do? deleting common.ini did not help at all. downloading the full client is not possible as I am using my mobile phone as internet connection (which works fine for starcraft 2 and other games) and have to pay every 5 gigabyte 20€.

please ccp fix it asap
remove the stupid launcher for mac users and let us apply patches manually. it really sucks to pay without being able to play.



I am using the latest version of OSX Lion on a 2010 macbook pro.
it all was working fine till somebody decided that wow has a launcher maybe if you add launcher you can also has 10bil customers (hint this is a ekoj <- read backwards)

Same error as of this morning. I logged on last night and everything was fine. Im going to wait a few days and see if it sorts it self out. Im running on a M14X with Windows 7. Had no launcher issues since it was released though

After reinstalling the game it works again. I hope next patch won't break anything. Keeping the Install file just in case that happens.

Having Eve Launcher problems today myself, after the DT. Game won't even launch. Was working fine yesterday, before the DT this morning. Not inclined to re-download the whole thing

I dont understand why they introduce a patch that causes the game to start NOT working??? Often enough, a patch or "fix" on their part means hours of researching, "work-arounds", and diving into my computer folders to make it right, on my part. Is that how this is supposed to go down: you make the customers do the work you are supposed to be doing?


Anyone have an idea on how I can fix this issue? I am willing to yet again spend hours on my part to correct the "fix" to the thing that wasn't broken to begin with, that caused a game that worked great yesterday to not working at all this morning....

Only thing that ive managed to do to get online is to go into the eveonline/bin/exefile.exe

itll launch the game. launcher still doesnt work for me after trying a bunch of stuff.

Can any of you experiencing problems please get us a copy of the logs in your launcher installs? The logs provide us with much more detailed information, so that we can help you debug these issues.

This might have been related to a corrupted download from our content delivery network, so I was hoping you could examine the info file that it downloads, but if you've deleted the install I can't. Maybe next time (although hope there isn't a next time!)

What do you need? I can't find any file in the EVE tree that has been modified in less than 24 hrs.

This started happening to me this morning after I tried to log in to Eve on Mac via a wifi hotspot. Turns out the hotspot owner had marked Eve as suspicious somehow and instead of returning the real launcher info (mac_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt), it was redirecting to an error page.

Since then I cannot log in properly, even tho I am now back on a real internet link and can read the launcher info correctly in Safari, and I cannot work out where the bogus information is cached.

Bingo - solved it.

Bogus file in /Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/cache/mac_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt

remove that and I can log in.

GB - old-time (like, since V7) unix / python hacker.
