Wow, Star Wars, Warhammer, Aion, and countless other MMO's are the exact same and have an expiry date. wow has been going almost as long as Eve... except look at wow and look at eve.... Eve modern... WoW.... count the pixals on the screen at this stage, dont get me started on gameplay *shudders*

I can see Eve lasting alot longer, even though with alot of the chances i seem to be loosing more and more interest in the game. Hopefully the pro changes outweigh the cons but sure we will see!

I always think its funny when idiots like you bash WoW and say EVE is so much better.

The numbers prove you wrong. Facts are Facts. More players play WoW then EVE, **** more players have quit WoW than have ever played EVE.

Your kidding yourself if you think CCP would not love to have WoW sub numbers. Any MMORPG company would love to have the "failure" that is WoW.

You can like EVE better but stop with this pure nonsense about how EVE is way better then WoW, the number say other wise.

Its better because it doesn't need to separate people in infinite kiddie play pens (shards) just to keep a decent sub count. WOW would be a much better game if they crammed everyone into a single world and implemented full loot pvp. If you want a game you play WOW, if you want a virtual world that is actually alive you play EVE :P

Been hearing that for a long time. Usually what I bring up in the discussions about what is eve's weaknesses etc. And unfortunately, many parts of it does make eve a joke unless you are a rookie fortunate enough to find that good group of people that can get you to that which makes eve awesome.

What do you expect? People trash WoW all the time over here.

Video game "rivalries" are very common amongst game communities. Right now the biggest is Battlefield vs Call of Duty. The winner of these fan wars will be who can be dumber than the other.

Yeah, and McDonalds is the best food in the world!!!!

Ever seen that show Kitchen Nightmares? What's with that idiot Chef Ramsey, why doesn't he tell all those struggling restaurants to be more like McDonalds? Fresh Frozen Plastic is the way to go! Facts are Facts. More people eat at McDonalds, **** more people have quit eating at McDonalds than will ever go to any of these other restaurants.

Most of the comments have been quite constructive, No I don’t play WOW would never and will never, I like ships, cars, spaceships, the new MMO that I just started use ROBOTS!, and most of what I have seen it’s almost exactly like Eve, CCP knows which MMO game it is.
It’s good that most of you can list aspects of the game that doesn’t just include ganking or slagging off me; but all the ****you crap, will be playing another MMO in a year or so, the problem is there’s a lot of people here, carebears, gankers, large alliances, and you hate each other, why I don’t know, but what happens when you have learned every skill, flown every ship, fought in every battle that eve has to offer; you have all the wealth you need, all the ships you need, won your battles, what then? I think Goonswarm is going after the ultimate carebear corporation CCP, and they want to gank their arses, when I complete a game either pc, ps3, xbox360, I don’t usually play them again and even though Eve creates new ideas and chapters, there’s still no new skill books to learn or very rarely new ships to fly, most people can do the ultimate DPS, so inflicting that DPS on a carebear can seem to be the only answer, not something I do my self but I can see why they want too.
To all those who posted thought out comments, because there has been a few, then all respect to you.

IT would take about 10 years to learn every skill in eve I think also Eve isn't about just flying ships. It's about creating new things with the sandbox and from what I know no other MMO is really effected by the player and is what makes Eve so great. It seems like you care to much about what other think. Eve isn't for you, go play Perpetuum and stop trying to start a MMO war.

When you read a good book do you only read it once also?

I agree with that, in principle, but you have to understand that getting gear in EVE and WoW is completely different. In EVE, you can just quickly grab some cheap modules on the market, and be up and running in minutes after getting killed. In WoW, your damage and survivability is practically 100% reliant on gear stats, to the point that having gear just one season older makes you uncompetitive, in both pve and pvp, against someone using the latest stuff.

New gear sets take months to accumulate. As far as pve goes, you have to grind out various current tiers until you're finally geared enough to raid for the current high-end stuff. Even if you're in a good guild and are allowed to tag along to leech, it will still take many weeks to have the stuff you want actually drop, and then win rolls on it. As far as pvp goes, it takes double-digit hours to get enough of the appropriate currency just to get a single piece.

Overall, the people who blindly bash WoW for providing instant gratification are completely wrong, but they won't realize this, since they've never played the game. WoW isn't just about leveling; the real game begins when you reach the cap, and have the actual game content available to you. The majority of players, even after the post-BC dumbing-down of the raiding system, don't see the end game content due to difficulty.

I'd rather play this terrible game (and I have!) than associate with a needy, nagging meatbag. At least in EVE, I'm given the tools to deal with corp theft.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

What’s happen to CCP, now they choose to be silent after “Burn Jita” all that publicity and then nothing! What happened to a new wave of hard core gamers coming to EVE and now the embarrassment of a slowly dying High sec and laughter of Goons! And remnants of Eve players are now left here with their C*** in hand, let’s hope that Eve Vets return after hulkageddon.

Your a moron. Numbers mean nothing. WoW has higher subs than EVE because of two main factors:
1) it had a pre existing fanbase before release, a rather large one at that
2) it is fantasy, which is more popular in general than sci-fi.

WoW is crap with pixels. I tried it before I played EVE. I think I found more entertainment from the local news.

As for if EVE had the same subs as WOW... if that happened I would only hope they all didn't want to play at the same time... the poor hamsters.

That’s great I’m pleased that you have no doubt, I must be using the wrong time zone, my eve launcher tells me only 28,292 players currently online at 23.24pm in my time zone, maybe I have jet lag.

The only reason why subscription numbers have been growing lately is because everyone wanted an incursion alt. That, too, will go away soon.

When I log in at around 7-8 pm GMT -5, there's usually less than 23,000 online. That's only slightly more than half the players I saw two, three years ago. I rarely catch more than 40,000 online on a weekend afternoon.

I talk to plenty of people, and the majority says either "I'm quitting soon," or "I gotta make another alt for X."

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

I’m sure it’s not just about the numbers online but how many accounts there are and hopefully they are just not playing Eve right now, but if current events continue, how long will it take for those people to cancel their subs and close their accounts, already Ex Eve players tell stories that they have cancelled their 9 accounts!, and make up chat channels in jest at Eve’s ignorance in other MMO’S, I hope CCP new expansion works well, because its needs to be good.

I tend to think it will be a very good expansion when it comes to war and conflict in numbers, however the effects on players playing their own content being alone or with a friend, will probably find some nasty changes affecting them directly and independent of their actions or there's not much they will be able to do about but to join masses.

Now there's some stuff, tinny little stuff very annoying that actually can waste important stuff. How much affected will be the guy playing his armada of alts? -not that much

How much overall changes will affect the individual player? - a lot.

Not sure it's all positive or all negative thou. Of course each point will bother some players and please to others witch is normal until small changes affect harder the individuals rather than masses.

There was a null sec exode few years back because of some changes CCP thought were necessary, however over time they admitted (roll back somehow) and null sec got players back.

Thing is that when you have no choice but to play others/mass games when it's supposed to be a sandbox this affect directly the individual witch is the reverse effect of a sandbox where "one" can make the difference and play in a decent environment of risk/reward.

How much interesting for eventual new players that don't bring an army of alts to get decent isk to play a game where you don't have the choice but to play numbers games?

I'm playing in null sec, I know what masses are. I've played a lot in high sec and also know what solo is and if my thoughts are right the individual player will get some baseball bat hit right in the front because of tiny annoying stuff.
I hope I'm wrong, and I'll probably will, but if I'm right this will only mean we will be loosing individual players with maybe one or two alt accounts to reward other players with their army of alts, and I think this is not good for everyone.

Contrary to your name, I AM amused

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.
