The changes to the Amarr T2 ship colours makes me sick to my stomach.

Hi all, I just wanted to chime in and explain that the Shader that’s used will modulate the look of the red on the Sarum ships. That is why it is too dark for some and nice for others, that being said... we are aware and have been that the ships are slightly on the darker side.

This is something we've been looking into but can’t make any changes until ALL ships are V4'd as it would be a global change to all ships. I do not have any details on this other than we are looking into it.

I will however point one of the senior artists to this thread to look at the screenshots you have created for the Paladin.

Is V4 a typo or tessellated models?

Do you mean Carthum Conglomerate? Since, ya know, that's who the ship description says made the ship. You guys didn't V3 the wrong corp, did you?

But if they're all too dark, then it'll only fix them sooner. Those that are V3'd will be corrected, those that aren't V3'd yet won't be affected, no? Or, at worse, it'll make the V3'd ones good, and the few remaining non-V3'd ones worse. But that's the minority now, so why not make the newer ones good rather than worse than the older ones?

The only explanation for this is in the evelopedia:

Carthum

Viziam

You can see that Sarum family have 35% of shares from Carthum and Ardishapur family have 30% of shares from Viziam. Maybe this is the reason for the Sarum and Ardishapur corp emblems on TII Amarr ships.

You can see more information about this on this thread.

That doesn't have more information though. It's just Vertex saying the Sarum colours have been switched around which should be completely irrelevant because the ships are made by Carthum, not Sarum. He also says they are "looking into" the logos which possibly means the logos are wrong. I just hope he got the corp name wrong and they didn't V3 the wrong paintjobs.

The thing I find interesting about this debate is that people are basing opinions on the SHADOW side of the PREVIEW window. The window where everything is badly lit and poorly coloured. Get the damnation, the paladin, the absolution, any of the V3 actually into space where the new shader layers function properly, and they are amazing looking. The absolution and damnation with nebulas and the light of the system's star glowing on it are absolutely fantastic!

To quote Lfod Shi

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

Learn to read. I took them to Domain and took pics in space. CCP have just acknowledged that they're too damned dark.

And the Guardian front is still wrong.

In fact, except for purifier, it's not a V3 but a V2 bis, textures have not been changed only shaders.

I just find it hard to believe that someone approved updating the shaders knowing how it would impact the overall color of the ships. Now, if this would be fixed very quickly I can see it but if it takes a year or more to get the ships colors updated to where they need to be then that is poor planning.

Should have V3'd everything at once. Then got the colors right for everything at once. Then roll out the V3 project in quick, but staggered releases, say about a month. Then rolled out the color updates.

Unless nobody knew how the shaders would affect the appearance and in that case Shocked

V4? Wat?

Good job on the V3ification of Amarr. It's looking great, and the only things that really need fixing are the manufacturer logos on ships.

Something that deserves looking into is the lighting discrepancy between the preview window, the ship hangar, and space. Ships like the Curse no longer have the shiny black look and feel in the former two, due to the lighting being far too bright, but in space they look amazing. I think this is responsible for a bunch of the complaints in this thread.

Adjust your color settings, that ship has no brown on it viewed in game. It is a Redwood or Maroon color.

I'm sure that eventually they will adjust things so that people that grow accustomed to their monitor/video card factory defaults (and leave them that way thinking they are accurate) will not mistakenly see a brown ship... and the over all brightness will be increased a bit.

Until that happens though, all joking aside, if you aren't seeing more than a bit of red in that ship it's time to use your video cards control panel to make some adjustments.

not the red part. the gold part has been darkened/dulled so much it looks like brown. compare the before and after guardian pics and you can see the difference

On my screen in game it looks like a less reflective, darker/deeper shade of gold. Not brown.

I'm not trying to insult anyone, and the issue does need attention, but I'm sure these are being done on very accurately adjusted monitors when they are being worked on. They probably need to compensate for the fact that not everyone fine tunes their video color.

hope you are right. the screenshots are basically the same on 2 different monitors I have. But you still have to admit, it is vastly different then the shiny red and gold we have now.

I do not want cartoony bright colors but then again, I don't want ships that look like they've been sitting in a junkyard for 20 years either collecting dust and getting tarnished

I disagree, gold on the Abaddon looks amazing compared to current IMHO. Could probably stand to be a bit lighter but is still quite an improvement.

If it is the same on both of your monitors, then it is likely your video card that needs a little tweaking. Usually there are gamma settings in the cards control panel that you can adjust.

two different computers. one at work and one at home.

I will admit that I like my colors a bit bright at home and have the gamma set either super high or super low, can't remember.

I'll play around with it later see if i can improve it
