Unfortunately only in EVE. And anyway any capital ship could be able to launch fighters but only carriers can do it in this game. I am not flaming anything just it will be really good to see some change in the right logical direction.

Eve is too balanced. Each ship should have a win butan that gets bigger and bigger the bigger the ship is. For capital ships, the whole screen should be one giant win butan.

ahh what? Ok, I will do the work for you....

Battlestar Galactica
This one works a bit different because there was really only one ship. However, when a battlestar showed up what was teh FIRST thing that Galactica did? LAUNCH FIGHTERS

Star Wars
When the rebels assaulted the deatstar in episode 6 did they bring just their capitals? No, they had X-Wings, Y-wings, corvette class ships, etc.

Firefly
You didn't really see too many ship v ship battles but there were a few instances that one of the giant cruiser things launched support fighters.

This is all I can think of off the top of my head right now but the truth is that cap ships need support.

There is no way a small turret can take the same space of a large turret. This is a fact. And yes EVE can be balanced but in the expense of any logic. You must fit more then a large turret if you shrink its size, that is a realistic fact. Big ships should be able to fit more small guns if they sacrifice a large slot! And you can clearly make a design such that way. Of course you are not supposed to win if you fight a battleship in a small assault boat X

1. buy capital
2. fit 48 assault launchers with FoF
3. siege mode
4. profit

I should buy an Ishtar.

Star Destroyers from Star Wars had Tie-Fighters to defend itself.

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

This is how a REAL capital ship looks like Big smile

No, THIS is a capital ship (It can go past Warp Speed, it can go to LUDICROUS SPEED!)

This same thing has been proposed a few times in a much sane-er format (i.e. a 900dps BS being able to fit small turrets and do something like 450 dps with them or meds for 600) and even that was vehemently refused... (though in that case I am not sure it was the right move)...

So your idea where a 24xrocket launcher Raven does (with 4bcu) 912 dps with rage rockets and a Rokh with 32x light neutron blasters with void (wih 3 magstabs) does 2240 dps ... is I think as likely as you sending me 3 bill when you log on later tonight...

It is a game dude. No matter how realistic it is you have to abstract a lot of stuff for it to work. Plus it is not a space simulator. It is a strategy MMOG.
When I started playing I wished planets in EvE could move. I still think it would be awesome if they did but knowing the game better now I dont think its a bad thing they don't.

Capital ships need the support of smaller ships in order to ward off attacks from other smaller ships. EVE didn't just make that up. A capital ship does not travel alone. It travels with a battlegroup of escorting ships. Battleships were classically vunerable to smaller, faster ships that could outmaneuver them and their guns. That's why no modern navy even uses battleships anymore. They were big, slow, stupid expensive and could be taken down by a handful of smaller ships that cost 1/1000th the price tag.

What do you think a Destroyer is in real life? >.>

No one looked at the battleship's main gun afterwards and went "You know what would make this work? If we just took that off and had 50 dudes stand there on deck with rifles instead!". It would be stupid and ridiculously expensive. When you could just have 10 dudes on 5 smaller boats that cost 1/1000th of the price tag each.
