With Dec Shields in place my enemies found easy shelter. What's you guys sense of POS bashing activities post inferno? What tactics can be used to bring industrial operations to a stand still? How specifically will the new merc market allow payment for targeting specfic enemy objects (like POSes, rather than generic kills)? Ideas welcome. Mercs too, post inferno that is.

Attacking corp will not get the benefit of hiring mercs; only defenders. I'm not a warmonger or pos basher but I think I can come up with something for you....

1) find a POS in highsec that is lightly/not defended
2) war dec corp that owns said POS
3) kill stuffs?

Here is a link to the war dec mechanics: http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=28542

thx Vexx.

As one can read in the notes on the expansion it becomes easier to hire a merc corp as they can build reputations so reducing the scam risk. That's good for attackers and defenders.

ATTACKER ADVANTAGE? It also means that one can start griefing POS owners by declaring war on them, potentially forcing them to hire mercs to defend themselves. That will be at a cost probably a lot higher than the cost of wardeccing them. If then also the attacker merc puts in the occasional stab at the offending POSes, the cost of defending can run up further. Creative thoughts on this or similar mechanisms would be great.

DEFENDER ADVANTAGE? On the other hand, are there elements in the new war dec system which makes it harder to take down POSes? Definitily the ability hire defending mercs. But are there other elements to this?

Would it not generally be a pain in the ass to take one out now anyways? POS's come down in a matter of minutes now, so unless your after the spot, they'll just put it back up after the war. On the chance they either don't realize untill its to late, or are to dumb to take it down, I would guess youd want to wack them early on, or else you may risk being flooded with mercs

There is also a good chance you will see HS coalitions starting to form for mutual defense that aren't in a formal alliance structures anymore. It will be slightly harder to do proper intel gathering on targets until combat starts.

From my understanding with the new mechanics it will be entirely possible to bait mercs and other alliances into perma-war.

Unless they changed it again, if I dec research corp A and their parent alliance gets called in to help then I can make war with that alliance permanent until they surrender to me at terms???

I am sure that some indy corps will find a new way to dec shield though and get it sanctioned by ccp.
