Importing existing skills into EveMon planner?

Not sure if I am allowed to ask about an external program, but I would like to use EveMon to help me make sense of the skills. I can't seem to find a way of getting my existing skills into the planner so that I can then plan future progression.

Do I have to put them in manually or is there some nifty way of importing them to the planner?

CLick "file" and then "add api key"

It will show you where to go to get one.

Once you do this successfully, EVEMON will keep track of your progress.

Thanks, but I have got my EveMon up and running and it shows my existing skills, but I can't get them into the planner tool. That is what I need help with. Or am I missing something really obvious?

Just confirming you imported your skills using an API key. If so, click on you character, then up top "plan" and create a plan. It will automatically fill it in.

Yes, API key entered and skills have imported, but when I Select Tools | New Plan, I am asked to give it a name and it is an empty plan. There is an option that says import plan from file. I was hoping I could get a file from my existing skills and import that, but that took me nowhere.

My aim is to to start a 'whatif' plan based on what I have already - does that make sense?

Oh okay. YOU give the plan a name, like battleship or "whatif" or something. Click "ok" Then on the next screen, pick from the skill browser, or a ship you might like to fly or an item etc.

DOnt worry you will get it and love itt.

Can't be done.

Evemon is always about what you're going to do, rather than what you've already done. So it won't let you add your current skills to the plan (as you have them). It'll also take away skills from the plan as you learn them.

Closest you can do is add a new character on your account and hook it up with the api. Then manually set all the skills you've already learnt on your main.

Woo! CSM XI!

That answers that then. Thank you

It won't be too onerous to add skills in manually as there aren't that many, being fairly new.

Orlacc, love it already!

Or you could use the Blank Character Creator (look in Tools), make a plan for that character and import the skills of the character in question as skill plan.

Why would you add already trained skills to a skillplan?

Isn't the whole idea of a skillplan to see what is NEXT.

I have some basic skills from playing just short of two weeks, so yes, I want to plan what comes next?

Yes, and that's what you do with EVEMON.

If you have an API linked to it, it pulls your skills in EVE too it.

I just don't see why you want it to show your already existing skills as they don't matter for your skill planning.

As you put skills in the plan it tells you how long it takes to train them, there is no need to see which skills you already have.

Yup, what you say does make sense. Perhaps, I am being over enthusastic/anally retentive Roll

Thanks again all for your help.
