I already hear alot of "Minmatar". Seriously, you can use all races for PvP, some need a bit more of player skills than others. Amarr is about "Stand and Fight" while Gallente is about "Right in your face". It depends on your preference of playstyle.

If you want to do lots of 1on1 fights and very small gang stuff you can't go wrong with Gallente. If you see yourself regularly flying with a bunch of about half dozen or so or more people pick Amarr. If you think you'll do both about equally often pick the one whose style you like more. Both races have ships that can work for solo and fleet stuff. Attention

And if you want a bit of everything, harass the blob and do a bit of all kinds of piracy: take Minmatar. Seriously, as it stands now you can't go wrong with Minmatar. They do everything good. Seriously. E V E R Y T H I N G ! Shocked

If you're looking to use your skills in your RvB corp, then gallente is probably the slightly better race. This is because Amarr have the punisher and the arbitrator as fairly good t1 pvp ships, whereas gallente has incursus, tristan, vexor and thorax as fairly good t1 pvp ships. The maller and prophecy are also pretty good amarr ships but not very exciting, whereas the brutix and myrmiddon are super fun. On the other hand, the Harbinger is probably reckoned to be superior to both the brutix and myrmiddon, but you'll be spending most time in frigs and cruisers if you stay with RvB.

However...

In RvB (and prolly in general) the punisher and maller will never be primaried. That honor belongs to dessies and rifters.

This.

I know you are new but look at rases in wide perspective and your future in eve.

Both rases got pros and cons, personaly i train last time amarr cruisers to lvl 5 because i got a lot sp in missile so im able to use sacrilege heavy assault ship with missiles bonues, or cool amarr recons with neutralizers and drones even missiles on curse.

Every rases got some cool stuf, caldari got super ecm, minmatar a lot dps and fast ships, Amarr works good with cap drain items + very strong damage while using pulse lasers good armor tank, but amarr cons they got most slowest ships in game, Galente are good in drones and hybrids weapon. In my opinions is realy hard to master minmatar rase but they cool to.

Look at rases bonuses espetialy at recons because all rases got different electronic warfare.

Especially the Maller. I still have the one I brought to the Forge originally, like a week ago. P

I actually based what race(s) I would fly on the looks of the ship. The flavor of the month that CCP decides is always going to change sooner or later so basing off that is stupid. Remember you are going to be staring at this race of ships for some time so go for the looks :-P I am actually cross trained into both Amarr and Gallente as they both have ships I like and are very useful.

As for what you are going to want to do.... After you figure out the race you are wanting to fly figure out what ship type you are wanting to get into. Then train frigs 5, small guns and support skills 4, core skills 3, drone skills 3, cov-ops 4, tanking skills 3. Move on to cruisers and train medium guns 4, core skills 4, drones/support skills 4, tanking skills 4. Then if you are wanting to get into BS move onto those to 4, large guns to 4, then the essential core skills to 5, t2 armor/shield tank. After that you can backtrack and train up small guns 5, some gun support skills 5, t2 smalls, t2 scout drones. Then medium guns 5, t2 meds, more cores to 5. You get the point.

This will allow you to fly progressively larger and better ships in a decent amount of time. Always gives you something to move towards.

Edit: You really can't go wrong with training in eve, but you can gimp yourself for a decent amount of time if you don't figure out what race/ship(s) you are going to want to fly.

Short Answer: Amarr to begin with... why? gun range .. Amarr guns shoot perfectly at all distances..

the only gallente ship i see worth training is Lachesis/Arazu recons .. nothing else

It's "races".

Proteus? Nemesis? Nyx? Dominix? Taranis? Enyo? Ishkur? Ishtar? Talos? Vindicator? Vigilant?

Gallente ships are normally designed around small gang PvP. Amarr are better suited for fleet fighting. Combat Recons are notable exceptions: the Curse is deadly in small encounters; the Lacheisis sees a lot of use as a fleet tackler.
