hey guys,

i want to support my first character (tengu) shooting guristas

i could use caldari, minnie and gallente BS with all relevant guns (no launchers) to t2, i cant use any T2 ships

the whole thing should be as "low maintenance" as possible

i was thinking about something like this:

[Hyperion, derp]
Armor Kinetic Hardener II
Armor Kinetic Hardener II
Armor Thermic Hardener II
Large Armor Repairer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Tracking Computer II

What are your drone skills like? If you want really low maintenance you can just use a Dominix.

A drone boat is the perfect second ship, but since you don't have drone skills, that's not an option. Otherwise I would have suggested a Dominix, Ishtar, Gila, or Rattlesnake. I personally don't think much of the Hyperion, but I have used a Naga as a second ship in L4 missions - just make sure you draw the aggro with the other ship first!

I have used this ship as a second account in The Assault (Serpentis), Mordus Headhunters, and several other Kin/Thermal enemies. It has enough buffer to survive as long as you draw most of the aggro with the other ship and kill whatever targets this one first. If you do draw too much aggro, you can kite effectively for several minutes while you wear down the DPS. I never carry any other ammo - just change scripts as needed and use antimatter all the time.

This setup gets 705 DPS with All Level V skills. Upgrading to faction MFS gets you 759 DPS, but significantly increases the cost of the platform. That also lets you fit an LSE 2 (this setup is tight on CPU). Adding the 5% all turret damage and 5% hybrid turret implant gets my character up to a very respectable 821 DPS.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

if you want low maintenance, there is not really a way around drones and/or FoF missiles.

I should buy an Ishtar.

I agree with the bit about Drones, but my experience with FoF missiles has been uniformly bad. They seem to target the closest "hostile" thing, which is often a structure.

Having a ship that all you have to do is lock targets and press F1 is pretty low maintenance too. I've been dual-boxing for years, though, so I am very used to it.

another tengu?

oh and for a second ship you bring to the field, your hyperion is over tanked. go for a max gank ship. I dont know about your price range, but if your training lazors right now, then the nigtmare comes to mind as a very good addition to your tengu

Why do you hate the Guristas so much?

Sending two fully armed combat ships to kill helpless space pirates is nothing but griefing, imho.

put talons in the tengu pilot and you get a 1 account pve setup. Pretty low maintanance lol.

I have HG's in the tengu pilot and the jams drop off something fierce.

Other options are max out dissolution sequencer skill, 1 eccm, 1 sensor backup array. this setup on the same tengu pilot is decently jam resistant, ran a gurista mission no jams last night(needing a few pita skill 5's cleared out, so slumming in the +4 clone).

Additional bene is you are harder to find.

Most low maintenace thing is either a Domi, Gila, Rattlesnake, Ishtar with lots of drones. It is really the only low maintenace way to it. I personally have a preference towards the Gila, passive tank it the most you can while still using an AB and have it orbit you with drones out doing their thing with FoF missiles in an assault launcher. DPS difference between that and the heavies is small enough to not bother and you get several minutes before the missiles run out, will that kill anything, mabey. If so it may just be a frig or two but it add a little DPS every now and than.

The drones on the other hand will wreck havoc for you. My preference would be to use medium and light drones since their quicker to skill up and you don't have to worry about tracking as much so all slots can be dedicated to tanking without worry. Than your Tengu just handles all EWAR and BS ships while the drones handle everything else while your doing that.

This will pretty much be the warp in release drones, set orbit, hit launchers and switch screens and your done with it. As a added bounus it tanks very well, its pretty much a cruiser sized Drake in terms of passive tank with good drone bounuses and practically useless missiles, and it can speed tank far better.

Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you.

Echo all the talk about drone boats.

Will add that a blasterboat is the last thing you want if "low maintenance" is a goal. Those require real flying. At least a long-range gunboat can sit in place while it does its thing.
