rules of suicide ganking in high sec

First of all i would like to say i am NOT planning on doing any ganking in the near future as i am a trader i just wondered what the rules were surrounding it,

if i do decide to do ganking then is it acceptable to attack anyone that i find for example even new players (few weeks old) now i know that they enjoy some protection in rookie and 0.9 - 1.0 space and I am NOT considering going into that level security to do it anyway, but if they are found in 0.8 lower then isnt that legal to suicide gank them? because after all your not meant to be safe anywhere and the lower sec you go the higher the risk.

any comments or advice would be great Smile

You can gank in any system except rookie starting systems. Any other 1.0 or .9 allow ganking. The reason prophet do not gank there is because of concord response times. The lower the sec status, the slower it takes for concord to arrive. In a .7 system or lower you may be able to get off 2 or more vollies before concord shows.

In a 1.0, if you do enough damage in your first shot, you can kill your Target. Concord just shows up the fastest preventing you from shooting again.

No one here will probably believe or cares if you plan on suicide ganking anyone here. It is not a big taboo, this is Eve after all. Just don't suicide gank noobs in starter systems as mentioned, and go for juicy targets and you be good. If someone crys saying your exploiting something and your not just either block them or troll them, your call but if you do the latter keep it in game, so no "go die in a fire" or some other BS that I get from people or death threats. Just keep in mind bringing in your sec status back up takes time so choose your targets well. If you want examples on what to fly/fit go jump in a ship with a passive targeter and ship/cargo scanner and go fly along a trade route between hubs and scan the ships that stay at the gates or the hub. Most of what I see are destroyers and tier 3 BC's mainly tornados, and some scanning frigs.

If you are a trader look into how to avoid suicide gankers if you don't already know how, buffer tanks, cloaks, mwd/cloak trick, etc.

Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you.

Says who? New players aren't necessarily the only people in the starter systems.

Says CCP because that's griefing apparently, back in the day you were allowed to teach new people to keep their hands off other people's stuff but CCP canned that too Evil

Rookie systems are out for ganking or tricking people into stealing from your cans.

My question would be would you get warned or banned for killing older more experianced players in starter systems if it was worth it and not just because they were easy (PLEX or officer loot maybe?)?

It's not been nice, but thanks for using lube

The #1 rule of suicide ganking, is that there are no rules. The rule #2 is follow rule #1...

If it can undock, it can also be ganked. The undock button is the consent agreement for non consensual PvP. Pirate By the way the 1.0 sec systems are some of the best ganking fields as carebears retreat there for safety that does not exists.

If only they got a great big warning message saying they'll probably be shot for taking stuff out of that can. Roll

... but I'm not even talking about new players. Are you telling me that if a faction-fit tengu goes afk in a starter system with its tank turned off, I'm not allowed to gank it?

the question was rookie systems not 1.0 and 0.9, they are not the same thing

Rookie systems are the ones with the tutorial agents in them

I thought it was can baiting in rookie systems?

but hey if they are in a tengu they really shouldn't count as protected citizens... or if they are carrying 74 plex. I'd guess if you can show economic reasons for attacking the gms will probably not mind, but ganking newbs in their t1 frigs/dessys, well gms probably won't like you very much.

Starter systems are ok as long as you pick the target.

If you see a one day old toon in an ibis in a starter system. Best not to grief them.

If they are a few weeks old and in a cruiser - kill their arse.

Warning: Can Flipping in Rookie Systems is considered Griefing.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Griefing

Quote:
In general, "griefing" is a term that means action against another player that makes the target feel like being targeted on purpose or for the sake of harassment only.

In EVE, "griefing" refers to various activities, some of which can be argued not to be "griefing" in the classic sense, but parts of valid gameplay.

There are certain forms of griefing that can get you banned from the game. These include (but probably are not limited to) can baiting in rookie systems and certain forms of verbal harassment.

Quote:
...it has been repeatedly stated by the developers that the possibility for non-consensual PvP is an intended feature.

Quote:
Can flipping is officially considered griefing only in Rookie Systems. Some people do it just for fun, without the actual intent to cause the feelings of harassment and frustration in the victim. It is, however, also a typical form of griefing in the classic sense.

Says nothing about sui ganking noobs. Best bet is to petition it and ask whats ban-hammer-able ;)

Surely you were at the peak of your time in EvE back then? I mean full on? A Hulk? You sure it wasn't already on it's hull? Damn man, just damn.

lol, who gets the reference?

On a more on-topic note, there are no real rules for hi-sec ganking. Just know that if you're carrying more than 10m or so of loot you're liable to get ganked. Especially in any slower ship.

As long as you don't suicide gank in a rookie system or manage to avoid death by CONCORD in any form, everything goes.

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!
