What would happen if NPCs started warping out when their tank began to break if they were not scrammed? Players would not be so disconnected between pve and pvp styles of combat. It would be a simple change in code, and all other behavior would be the same. The NPC would warp back after it had enough time to recover its tank/get off-grid logistics support. What do you think?

Some rats WILL warp off already if they are engaged by a superior force in a belt, nto foten, but they do.

best aprt is, if you ahve a MWD and go after them, after going a couple thousand kilometers, you can actually come upon a vast amount of these NPC's that warped off belts all together.

They sort of do this in the mission dread pirate scarlett, its scripted, but if you fit a disruptor, you can trap anire scarlett in the 3rd room, and finish the mission faster (also if you stop it from warping away, it drops a +3 attribute implant when you kill it, so a +10 mill isk bonus if you use a warp disruptor, basically)

If you're trying to make PVE and PVP similar, this is not something you want to do. The idea is a start, I guess, but you need a complete rewrite of the way rats work.

Only similarity between pve and pvp would be that rats warp off when tank is gone and warp back when tank is restored. All rats of each wave must be killed to spawn the next wave. If rats scram, RR, etc., they continue to do that, but now the player needs to carry and use a warp disruptor while maintaining distance. Would slow down pve rewards, so those would need to be increased appropriately.

So why did you say in the OP that it would reduce the disconnect between the two styles? What?

There's more to PVP than 'fit a point'.

Having to get into point range with a BS is going to be so fun with this idea.

Sorry, but just this little change will only make things worse (and won't give mission runners a PvP feel).

There is more to pvp than "fit a point," but it is a start AND it address the simple question of "Why don't NPCs warp out, repair, and then warp back in, like the most noobish player would, if they are not pointed AND have the opportunity to do so?"

But why waste the chance for a real overhaul of rat AI by only adding in that one limited option?

This again.....ccp does not need added petitions for missions resets when the spawns warp off and won't come back.

Most missions end either by death of trigger rat(s), or item drop to get those checkmarks. they warp out....no checkmark. then you are wating until dt to reset the mission. that don't work, submit pettition and wait weeks for a response.

Belt spanws can warpo off as they are not tied to a deadspace but a belt. You'll see em again. Myabe 1 belt down or 3....they are ot cruising the strip they are programmed too.

They will warp back again. And if they are off field, they can be treated like they are dead, until they return, triggering the next wave or the "checkmark."

They should smack in local while they are running, maybe claiming that they 'won' and/or that the player was cheating.
