WH ship progression (Minmatar vs. Caldari)

Hey guys, I'm currently running C1/2 with a hurricane solo and that's going fine, but eventually I wanna run C3/4 with corp mates and that got me thinking about my skill plan. Currently I'm pretty well invested in Minmatar ships and gunnery skills, pretty much all level 4 with a handfull of 5s. If I continue my plan to finish up some of those 4s, and opening up tech 2 Minmatar cruisers and tech 3 ships, I'm going to have some pretty darn good ships I can fly and great skills to support the,.

However I'm concerned that I could be more effective in WH operations if I switched to missiles and caldari ships. Most forum topics in the WH forum describe difficulty of sites by how many Tengu it takes to run them, not Lokis. At this point my missile skills are pretty crappy, but in terms of time investment it's not a huge difference( maybe 1 month behind). There's a lot of pros and cons to switching, but the bottom line is what is going to work best in small gang PVE in C1-4 wormholes? Can a Loki be just as effective in pve as a Tengu?

Depends on the Alliance you join. They use different tanking systems. Ask them before making the choice.

Wormholes have the best accoustics. It's known. - Sing it for me -

Assume I'm not joining a big WH alliance, but rather upgrading into bigger class WH ith a hodgepodge group of RL friends and corp buddies. I realize that we'll have to coordinate a RR tank system, but I'm asking more in terms of the effectiveness of caldari missile ships vs projectile based Minmatar ships. As someone who rarely pvps, I'm debating the switch to missile based ships and if they would be more effective in my long term goals of running my corp operation in a higher class WH.

I used to do C4 wormholes with a small group of friends. We always used 3, 4 tengus for dps and 1 loki for salvaging purposes. Although that was before the noctis release so I'm guessing you'd rather switch the loki out for another tengu.

The main reason we used tengus and not lokis is the bigger range of missiles vs projectiles and the fact that sleepers can get a bit hard to hit with projectiles due to tracking, and again range.

Thanks, that's some good advice. I'm curious why you used a Loki to salvage though. I guess with the popularity of Tengu, it's pretty hard to go wrong with the Switch to Caldari ships.

Tengu is the best t3 to use for PVE. You can get a RR tengu gang to do C4 sites with 2-3 tengus and make lotsa isk.

Since sleepers have balanced resists, it doesn't matter what damage type you hit them with.

The Tengu can project 500 dps from 0 to 100 km which is the engagement envelop of sleepers.

The Loki is something you use for PVP or C5-C6 Capital Escalations.

Don't use a T3 to salvage, get a noctis it will clean up sites so much faster and will pay itself a trillion times over in isk and sp.

a tengu easily breaks 500dps even with t1 missiles and without rigs. with perfect skills and scourge fury it's all up there in the 800s

edit: 0 to 100km mind you.

I should buy an Ishtar.
