Hello all, I recently joined a null-sec corporation, and as a noob who as played only for 3 weeks, I'm still quite confused on what I should be doing here. My isk has been depleted because of skillbooks I bought to bring to the corp home, and all I'm sitting on is a Rifter.
What should I be doing in null-sec? I'm trying to find a source of income, but it is challenging because I'm being confronted with many things at once.
Any help would be appreciated! :)

If a nul-sec corp is accepting new pilots such as yourself they should at least be willing to help you with your first income stream. If your corp cannot supplyyou with the knowhow you need to survive in their space i'd suggest you don't stay very long. Send me an eve-mail and i'll buy you some more rifters at least :)

Was going to say pretty much what Keno said. If you are in a Null corp that is accepting new players...they should be helping you learn what to do out there.

The fact that your corp wanted a newbie like you to buy skillbooks for them is a red flag in my opinion. I haven't done anything out of high-sec yet myself, but your corp should be willing to help you learn the ropes of PvP if they are accepting new players.

One important thing. Many groups in null sec operate on an "If it's not blue, shoot it" (NBSI for short) basis. This means that they consider everything that is not explicitly friendly to be hostile. This includes neutral ships just passing through, so try to stay light on your feet as you move around through there.

I'm more or less a noob of EVE, but I have some common sense to know that if you're buying skillbooks for your corp and they aren't doing Jack to help you learn, I suggest you take whatever skillbooks that are leftover and leave.

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

For clarification, I bought them for use for myself. Sorry if what I said was worded poorly

Also, I didn't mean to give the corporation a bad name, they are friendly players, and I believe the biggest problem is the lack of a better ship and a lack of trained skills. I actually just re-entered hi-sec until I get the experience to move back to null.

Leave your corp, and go join Eve University instead for at least a month. You'll learn the basics of Eve, and then you can go join a nullsec corp and learn how to pvp.

Also keep in mind, for new players that want to PVP, your going to be in frigates for a long time, skill or no skills.

Dispite all the bad press they get the TEST and GOONS are really good alliances for newbies in null-sec. They look after new players, teach them and get them involved...just got to make sure you get in with being scammed first

It's not been nice, but thanks for using lube

Fraid not mate :P In a good corp new players are very useful indeed. Skills should never be a barrier after the first week to your usefulness. A week old tackler is a very dangerous thing indeed to the right foe.

Just out of curiosity, are you alone in the corp-chat during your in-game hours? or nobody bothered to help you out there?

On a sidenote, I like the Amarr symbol in your profile's background Lol

There only tends to be about 5-6 others in chat. Sometimes my questions are answered, sometimes not, and somtimes they arent answered well enough, and I'm just afraid to ask again.

You actually caught that. It's ironic. :P

If a corp wants new players, there should be a organized way in which to integrate them into the corp, and certainly into 0.0 life. There is no excuse to get these new guys in, and let them fail.

That's not the way to do it.

Depending on the size of the corp, it might be that you're not on the most active timezone of the corp.

But no matter what, don't feel stupid for questioning and asking clarifications when you don't understand the answer, the only stupid questions are those not asked. But if you don't find your corpmates very helpful and most of them aren't online when you are, then I'd suggest you pack your assets and make your way out to find a corp that does a decent job helping new players. You'll probably have a better experience in the game than sticking with a null corp where you can't be helped when you most need it and risk losing your only remaining asset just because you undocked at the wrong time.
Search this forum, I know there's a great post to guide new players in finding a corp and don't join the first one you see, because falling in the wrong corp can ruin your interest in the game while finding a good one can make you stay for years.
