Why are High-Sec Miners a "threat to EVE"?

Do enlighten me. There are a lot of duchebags who apparently enjoy making the life of other players miserable (borderline griefing) and they justify themselves with this perceived notion that High-Sec Miners are a threat to the very existence of EVE Online.

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

Mainly because said miners often tend to be the ones who are clamouring for the removal of some of EVE's core design features (viz. universal, omnipresent, non-consensual PvP), commonly coupled with oddball demands based on a staggering unawareness of economy 101.

Of course miners are a threat to EvE, what could be more threatening to your average HiSec "combat" pilot than someone who wants to be left alone to do their thing in ships with little tank and no defensive weapons to speak of.

Of course, it is absurd to make the claim.

Most EvE players (especially in HiSec) don't know these forums exist let alone post on them. So while there is a very vocal minority that are calling for the changes you mentioned even on these forums they are exactly that, a very small minority.

The only people who whine about anything high sec is null sec alliances. I simply don't grasp why, I live in null and I mean live there not pop in and out when I can.

Most whining on these forums comes from null sec players about how high sec have it easy when it comes to earning ISK. This is absurd as the ISK in null is.....crazy.

Not really, no. Plenty of highsec players also complain about highsec.

It's not miners that are a threat, its just the idiots, and frankly they are everywhere in EVE. Some people on these forums really need to go outside once in a while and get a more solid grip on reality.

Hulks always need more tank, what are you talking about ...

And CONCORD needs to HTFU and stop lazing around when innocent miners are being ganked.

Well, about Hulks needing more tank: they are between cruisers and battle-cruisers in size, and they have less tank than most cruisers, less fitting than a cruiser (most notably the power grid), and their design role is to be sitting ducks. There is no way to protect them using an escort fleet since the attackers will just go straight for the Hulk. I'd be quite happy with current fittings, but better agility or a much lower maximum speed.

But CONCORD is just fine as I'm sure you'll agree.

Thank you for proving my point.

It's not miners that are the issue, its all the idiots, some of which can be seen proudly displaying their rampant idiocy in this very thread.

Miners are not a threat to EVE.

However, they are a serious threat to defenseless asteroids, and some people have had enough of this rocky massacre and try to protect them asteroids from extinction. These protectors may, or may not, have long hair and ships named "Rainbow Warrior".

But if we don't thin out their numbers they will exhaust all their food sources and the entire population starves!

Miners are not a threat to eve.

People are shooting them because they are very easy targets, thats all. The downsize of all this happy shooting is that these actions are boosting the prices sky rocketing all over eve. Tier3 BS's are now costing 250m each, Tier2 BC's are costing 40m or more and prices keep rising. Carriers that were costing 600-700m a few months ago have reached 1.400m Roll

Of course the price inflation is not only caused by the "miner hunt" in High Sec, but is not surelly helping the problem.

So keep shooting the miners and see your wallet bleed. Roll
