But I thought killboard stats were the problem?

Not read the whole thread, this is for OP:

I would strongly recommend you consider taking one of the Agony Uni 'Basic' classes (/w roam), even if you're not interested in PvP. If you (the OP) don't have the ISK for some reason, please contact me and I'll send it to you - just make sure to reference this thread.

At worst you'll learn that's not for you, and can consider joining another group (such as Eve-Uni) to expand learning to other aspects of the game. At best you'll like this, but then you've probably already discovered that some FCs/leaders aren't like Agony's (hell, you may try joining them - you would not be the first). That's the harder thing to deal with here, but once you find a group that works well with you, you'll find that this game becomes easier.

I heard Airhogs so I came by to say hai! Yes, we are a good group of people, albiet most of us have a couple loose screws on our dashboards. I myself didn't think I was gonna ever find a fun, friendy corp until I met Rollaz and the Hogs 3 years into the game. We do exist, and you can have mild and wild success if you find the corp that fits you, your personality, style, timezone, what have you. Most important in my book are good leadership, fun(ny) mother pluckers, and fair and ethical treatment. This being said, always watch your own back and look out for #1, this IS Eve. Mean people WILL steal your cookies to make you cry. That's also what makes it such an amazing game! -SG

No, not a hauler with 2 plexs in it.

I was talking about someone loosing a 500mil fitted hulk and 800mil worth of implants (about 2 plexes worth) in a 1.0 system. Not because the belt was dangerous, but because there are throw-away alts in fully re-imbursed destroyers gaming the clone system, with a guaranteed 10 mil profit if they kill the hulk, even if they get zero loot.

10 whole mil.

I would sure like to make 10 mil for 10 minutes of work, it sure beats running missions for 1 mil isk each. But unlike a lot of the people on EvE and in the real world, I don't feel that easy money should come at the expense of others. I guess actually having a sense of ethics puts me at a disadvantage here.

Which isn't to say I'm opposed to fighting people, just do it the right way. There is a huge difference between challenging someone to a pistol dual (war dec), and shooting someone in the back of the head with a sniper rifle (suicide gank)

Hold on, I need to notify a few million people playing any number of other games and tell them they are doing it wrong.

Would you cry on your Facebook about how unfair and mean the world is?

Meet who you can, find like minded people, invest something, risk something, put yourself out there. You will get backstabbed, you will meet terrible people, you will also meet awesome people, maybe even BFFs.

The goons don't represent me, or the majority of EvE I would imagine. I do appreciate their antics though, they do it because they can. They have organization and some leadership that guides them. You could build the same, it just takes effort. That is the beauty of EvE. It is not up to CCP or your untargetted audience here to make EvE what you want it to be.

Make EvE yours.

@OP

While you may not or may not likethe harshnes or "antisocial" aspects of the game is what makes it stand out from other mmo's out there, even compared to Darkfail (Darkfall). That is why I will always sub to this game.

While you may not like the goons, I personally can't help but respect their organizational responsiveness, lleadership, and PR tactics in the game. If they actually were to take over Eve it would be a testament to the above.

I'm sure someone is going to call me a newbie whiner that should go back to WoW for posting this, but here goes.

EVE online puts a HUGE emphasis on joining a corp and interacting with others, yet my 2 months of experience playing the game and reading the forums have shown me that this game is mostly comprised of unfriendly bigoted people who would rather insult you or pod you than actually be nice to you.

No wonder CCP thinks that "what goonswarm wants" is the same as "what the player-base wants": the only players left on EVE are either goonswarm members, or newbies. All the old players have given up in disgust after loosing 2 plexes worth of ship, fittings and implants to a single ganker in a 7 mil (fully reimbursed) ship

It really comes down to this, do you want eve to grow and add more players? or do you want eve to belong to goonswarm? you can't have both. Unless people stand up and say "the goons do not represent me", this is going to turn into GooN Online instead of EvE Online. All the easy care-bear targets will be gone, and the only players left will be PvPers (just like lowsec/nullsec is now)

By invading highsec, goonswarm destroys highsec. I'm sure the "goal" (if there was one) was to drive more players to lowsec, but they really just drove highsec players off the game entirely

I now look forward to the 4 pages of goonswarm members insulting me and the week of random people following me around in-game stealing my loot and ganking me, just for speaking my mind.

Nothing wrong with speaking your mind, it's simply to bad there is no mind to speak of...

(I see what I did there, even if y'all don't!)

You see this terrible logical fallacy all the time. Because something YOU do't like is going on, A. the majority of players (being just like you of course) are equally as outraged as you and B. This spells the end of EVE as all the players you will have left are Goons/BoB/Russians/NC/insert flavor of the month....

I get so tired of hearing it. Express YOUR opinion without trying to appeal to imaginary majorities that do not exist, is that so hard?

I know sometimes I express unpopular sentiments. I have enough self esteem to NOT crumble at the idea that most people (or almighty CCP itself) doesn't agree with me. So what, it's my opinion, but so many people like the OP (and high sec people in general) just can't seem to make a coherent argument without sweeping (and easily destoyable) generalizations about the doom of EVE.

I'm ex-BoB (and ex- Original Atlas) so i am NO fan of goons, but my GOD, the whining against the successes is so fail. Organize a High Sec Coalition/Invasion Fleet and go attack goons in their homes (Deklien) if you don't like what they are doing, but STFU until you've done that.
