Hey guys

i have got a problem with EVE in combination with the AMD graphics adapter in my laptop

i can't run EVE when AMD graphics card is active, since crucible 1.5 i believe

It runs fine withe the integrated Intel graphics adapater

Every time i trie to start EVE with AMD active, the screen goes on and off about 2 or 3 times and finally stays unresponsive in the windows task bar, while EVE's sound/music is active.

It's an HP Pavillion dv6 laptop
with AMD 6770m and core I3 2310

I guess its a driver issue
The latest driver from HP are installed. (thats a problem i guess, i cant use standard AMD drivers, otherwise i can't switch between the graphic units
I allready ran the rapair tool. I re-installed EVE.
I started EVE with integrated graphics, set the graphics to very low, deactivated antialiasing and such

I had some similar problem before this. EVE always crashed after i minimzed the client to windows task bar

But now, it won't even start

Are anymore infos needed? I will provide anything possible to solve this issue

Regards,

some EVE-loving guy.

Can you try uninstalling the AMD graphics driver and installing an older one (if available), i've heared there were problems with the latest version(s?)

Thanks for your reply,
but I really dont want to install a driver that is even more outdated than mine.

Is there any other solution?

I would hold tight if you can - I have a very odd graphical issue with jetting cans and popping them - it started in the same update - bug reported it.

I am hoping that they address it, and some of the other things - def don't think it is your PC... the client has something going on that is causing some odd things with GPUs.

Put it in safe-mode, and try kicking settings down both in your cards setting and in game until it doesn't do that... you should be able to have a workable game until they patch is with the next itteration - and def bug report it with images and all that.

Hey,

I tried safe mode, doesnt work.

I put everything to very low or deactivated it if possible, both ingame and in the catalyst control center.

I would like to post or report an error message, but i dont get one. The game just stays in the task bar after starting up.

Every other game runs fine.

Any other advice?

btw i'm using win7 x64

I have the same problem.
It worked fine when I used window mode. But I got the problem when I minimized the game after I set it to full screen.
I have tried to reinstall drivers and the game. I also made sure direct x is up to date.
I have a hd6630m card.
Game works fine on the Intel card.
Did you find any solution to the problem?

Im having the same problem I even posted a thread here a week ago and since then there has been 4 or 5 more threads all with the same or similar problem and all HP laptops I even think they are all the DV6 model! (dont quote me on that lol)

HP DV6-6B59EA
I5 2.4GHz
4 GB RAM
1TB Hdd
AMD Radeon HD6490M Switchable to Intel HD Graphics for low power consumption.

But yeah only having this problem with Eve and it seems to be confused by the graphics I think... I'm running in fixed mode witch means it always uses the AMD card on power and when on battery it goes to the Intel.

Like the rest of you works fine in window mode but not in fullscreen works perfect on the Intel card but FPS is crap as its a basic card...

I say we keep bumping this thread until a DEV responds!

I have a Sony Vaio btw. So its not only limited to HP laptops. It probably have something to do with the swichable graphics.
Its hard to say if its a driver issue or a game issue.
I dont have any problems with other directx games, but the driver crashes when I use opengl.

Well its sounding more and more like an issue with eve and switchable graphics, I've tried both the new and old drivers for my card with no change and other people have done the same. Also not everyone has the same model Laptop/Graphics card so its happening across models so I would put money on it being an Eve issue and not driver since its only happening on eve.

PS. I have no issue with using opengl.

got similar problem on pavilion dv3

graphics amd hd 6370.

although screen does not go blank, but there are always artifacts and lightning issues that make the game not that enjoyable. lowering graphics parameters does not help.

is there any solution?

Bump for the same problem. I'm using i3-2350 with 4G RAM and 7690m, seems it's a problme caused by switchable graphic card, for I can run the game with Intel HD graphic setting.

edit: problem solved. I use Intel HD mode to entered the game and change graphic setting from "fullscreen" to "fixed windows", then switch back to 7690m, the game run without any problem till now.

Interesting. I also have the HP dv6 laptop with switchable graphics. Though I have the graphics to always use the card versus integrated. As it stands now I cannot even get to the log in screen, as pressing play from the launcher causes the screen to briefly flicker then completely locks up the computer. The only workaround is to power it off... ctrl shift esc, alt enter, windows key do not work.

Will try starting the game with the integrated then seeing if I can switch to the card, to see if that does the trick, as per Val's post.

edit: Yeah, that worked. Odd considering I had disabled switchable in bios along with dedicated-only in Catalyst Control Center, but apparently Eve was wanting the lowly integrated and not getting it. Allowing switchable graphics and using the integrated at least got me in the game. Haven't tried switching to the dedicated in game.
