Hi,
Im trying to sell a plex but i dont have enough ISK to cover the fees. Is there a somewhat safe way to sell it any other way than the market?

There is no secure way. Reconsider if you need 470 mil if you haven't even earned 10 mil yourself.

You can try trading with another player in station... but be careful as some people can be quick clickers and remove all the ISK from the trade right as you click "Accept."

Thanks Ill probably just use to add game time I did not consider the fees associated with selling items at that value! Oh well better to learn the lesson this way rather than someone scamming me out of it!

Contracts. They only cost a fixed 10k ISK to set up.

But why would you need 470mil when you can't even make enough ISK to sell something with 10mil in fees.

It means you have no sustainable income and can't by far sustain your wallet even if it holds 470mil. You will just burn through that ISK and end up poor again.

Gain sustainable income first, then think of adding large amounts of ISK to your wallet. Most sub-caps can be bought on par with what they are good for.

For level 1 and 2 mission = Frigate and destroyers, not that expensive to buy (why do you need huge amounts of ISK)
For level 3 = cruisers, missions pay out higher, so you should be able to buy a cruiser by then.
For level 4 = battlecruisers, see level 3

Same counts for everything else.

Fly what you can afford to loose means you should be able to make the money you lost back and have spare ISK to rebuy the ship at the moment you loose it.

I doesn't mean having 470mil in your wallet to refund losses while not being able to get sufficient income to back up losses.

You don't need ISK to sell to BUY orders (duration = immediate), but you do need ISK to setup a SELL order.

Sell orders are not always the best way to go, as you have to pay for broker fees (1% or lower with Broker Relations skill and standing with the station owners) and transaction tax (1% or lower with Accounting skill).

Example: no skill or standing, 475m ISK PLEX price
* Selling with SELL Order: ISK gained (98%) = 465.5m, ISK lost (2%) = 9.5m
* Selling to BUY order: ISK gained (99%) = 470.25m, ISK lost (1%) = 4.75m
Difference: Broker fee (1%) 4.75m

So you have to make sure the SELL order is priced higher than the BUY order + broker fee!

Thanks for all the tips! There is so much to learn in EVE, I'm glad there people willing to help us noobs! This game would be much more difficult without some Vet advice!

Thanx again and Fly Safe

Like Tau Cabalander said, travel to the Forge region, click sell and the amount that pops up by default is the largest buy order. It will sell instantly with no capital required on your part. You may get a little more money if you set up the sell order but really you're talking about a 2% difference and for a new player just looking for some starting capital, that 2% won't mean much.

Use it to set up a cruiser for lvl2 missions and have some fun :)

There is one thing though which is very important to remember.

Hauling a PLEX from a system to another system for better profit brings the risk of being ganked along the way.
So IF you want to convert a GTC to PLEX then best to have your character at the desired station already so you are voided from having to then transport it over various jumps.

Run the tutorial missions, then run the Sisters of Eve epic arc. At that point you should have enough isk to cover the market fees, and as a bonus you'll have a feel for missioning and its return on investment in Isk terms, which will tell you whether you really want to sell PLEX in the first place or not.

The only time I ever felt the need to PLEX was when I was about a month in and I'd gotten all the gallente BS skills high enough to run L4s but didn't have the cash for an actual ship. The prices were pretty bad at the time, so it was mission for a week in order to be able to do more missions, or give our friends at CCP enough cash for a pitcher or two of beer and just do it. Since then I've figured out how to keep revenue-neutral in the ships I don't hate (i.e. small/medium ones) and never bothered again.

That said, I'm not really a newbie anymore at this point so I'm not sure how valuable my several-year-old experience is going to be to you on that one. Maybe it's more necessary with the price increases following the bot stomps.

It wasn't me, but if someone else sent you some ISK, please consider paying it forward to one or more other noobs, in a few months, when you can easily afford it.
