Can't find any good exploration sites...

Hi everyone, I have a question about finding exploration sites. I have read that there are ladar, magnetometric, gravimetric, etc. sites out there. But I have been playing for almost two months now, and spent a fair amount of time exploring high and a bit of low sec, and I never find anything but pirate hideouts or drone infestations. If I wanted to blow things up I'd probably do a mission for the better payout.

So, what am I doing wrong? Is good exploration only really for null-sec, or are there some low-sec or high-sec regions where it can be done? Do you need a certain threshold of astrometric skills before ladar etc. sites start to show up?

Exploration is decent in all areas of space, but naturally better in low security areas and more competed over in highsec. You can probe all types of sites no matter your skill level. The skills determine if you can probe down the harder sites and affect how fast and difficult it is to do. You should find a vide variety of sites on any normal day. It does mean traveling around a lot, scanning a large number of systems and preferably systems, that aren't crowded. Ladar sites aren't really common in all areas of space, so you might have to move, if you want to do them on a regular basis.

The above might be telling you the obvious, but hideouts and rogue drone asteroid infestation sites are trash sites. Basicly meaning they're the ones that are ignored by every serious explorer, since they simply aren't worth doing or don't allow the larger and more popular exploration vessels to enter. If you truly can't find anything else, it seems like you're scanning systems after someone has cleaned them up. You should still find occasional grav, mag or radar sites though, since some of them are often ignored too.

Also, exploration is kind of a game of luck.

There are is a certain amount of exploration sites in EVE.

All the high-sec ones are randomly distributed around all high-sec systems, so you could be unlucky and don't find one.

As soon as a site has been 'cleared' (as in the conditions have been met to make it despawn) it will respawn somewhere else.
As high-sec is heavily populated, you are also running against a fair bit of other exploration pilots.

So for exploration, being patience pays off. Move around through different systems, specially the ones not very heavily populated and you might find a good site.

As said above, exploration is a profession which tends to involve quite a bit of travelling around, a good measure of luck, and to be really efficient at it a fair number of developed skills.

It really helps if you find a region with very low population density. There's plenty of regions where the total population numbers in the 10's and 100's instead of 1000's, which significantly increases your chance of finding decent sites, and usually also access to the more quiet regions of lowsec.

It does, of course, mean you have to make rather long trips for shopping and dumping your stuffz in market hubs if you choose to do so, but then again if doing 10-20 jumps to get something done scares you, Exploration as a career isn't for you to begin with.

Highsec isn't "Safe".  Neither is it a playground for bullies and bottomfeeders. So stop complaining and start playing the game already.
