BS taken down by a navy frigate?

Unless the guy was afk, or his comp locked up, how did this happen?

I've heard of little ships taking out bigger ones, but this, this seems really odd. A fully fitted Abbadon taken out by a navy frigate? Shocked

It looks like a grab-bag ratting Abbadon ..

The Comet can easily overcome whatever repair a BS can muster (except for Maels/Hypes) as can most faction frigs and some T2 frigs .. surprised that the Comet plot had ammo enough to do it though. Since only noobs don't use faction ammo, and said ammo can be pricey one usually only brings enough to last until redock and/or death which would barely be enough to grind an Abaddon down.

He probably knew what he was going after ahead of time, and Void would be better for this than faction ammo, tbh.

I (almost) always pack a large amount of cheap t1 ammo in my hold along with the usual small amounts of faction ammo just in case I find an epic fight/kill where I need to use a lot of ammo. Just in case. Because finding a solo abaddon like that and then running out of ammo would be too much to bear.

Suppose you are right, would make sense to pack T1 on top of faction ..

If I was taking on a BS with a Navy Comet I'd be using Spike, Iron or Tungsten in a Railgun to stay out of heay neut range and a faction point to keep him from leaving. I guess he's lucky the Abaddon wasn't thinking frig defense

Uhm... Where was the "fully fitted" Abaddon again? In the five types of weapons? In the Hobgoblin T1?

The only thing that could have prevented the kill was friends or the Comet bringing little ammo. The Abaddon had zero chance effecting the outcome itself.

In .7? Sounds like pilot was AFK (and just had a bad day). Just for the hell of it I'd be curious to see the fit on the Hookbill. Faction scram?

Edit: Christ, what a fit... Looks more like a mercy killing of an alt just to get a KM.

Looks like a case of "angry noob attacks frigate that canflipped him with 'bigger and better' battleship."

Kudos to the pilot. Pirate

edit: someone might want to take the victim under their wing. I'm looking at his killboard and finding all kinds of comedy lossmails. Shocked

So much this.

To carry a few gun loads of T1 ammo in your hold costs what, 10000 for a frig, 100000 for a Cruiser or Battlecruiser, 500k to 2 mil for a Battleship. Never mind that I pay 750k in Faction Ammo for 2 gun loads for a frigate, 2mil for Cruiser, 4mil for a Battleship.

You would be silly not to pay what amounts to peanuts to ensure that you won't run out of firepower in a fight. 80% the damage of good ammo is so, so much better then 0%. Especially with 6mil a frig, 30mil a Cruiser, 70 a BC and 150-250mil a BS.

My 1600mm Electron Thorax holds 1000 Ammo in a full rack. I pack 1000 Faction Antimatter, 1000 Null and 2000 Antimatter minimum and it only costs me 50000 ISK for the T1 stuff.

That is the worst Abaddon fit I've ever seen, this was a mercy killing.

As to a Faction frigate taking down a BS it is very possible, you get under the BS's guns and maintain orbit within your optimal range, slaughter its drones with yours and from then its just matter of hacking away until either the BS runs out of cap and boosters causing its tank to fail. Your main risks would be running out of ammo or the BS pilots corpies showing up to rescue him.

I once killed Abaddon with assault missile caracal. How? Just burned close and orbit at 1000m with AB. Not a single hit after I got close. His drones went down fast with assault missiles.

I have taken plenty of BS with Frigates and Cruisers. Remember Large guns can't track something orbiting fast at 1km.

Bigger does not always mean better.

About a year and a half ago, I took my corp out on a cruiser roam through syndicate. We had a lot of lols, like getting hot dropped by a thanatos, with four BS's, and killing the Cyno ship, and forcing the Carrier to depart the field. Only about 14-16 of us at the time. The BS's had to slowly fall back one jump at time with the cyno out first to jump the carrier (they had multiple cyno ships. They did this for four jumps, likely to delay our departure for a counter fleet, but it lasted a good 40 minutes. We lost 2 cruisers through that fun, and ganked two BS's for our troubles. The two we lost docked, got their rookie ship, and fitted a warp scrambler. Once we got out of the pipe we were in, we let them go and proceeded through the north end of Syndicate. Ended up fighting a group up there and got pwned, every one of us but a single stabber died. We entered Solitude on the north side, and docked to get our rookie ships and warp scrams or webs. Then in Helluene there was an abbadon sitting off the gate. Our stabber said... guys, I'm going to try to get him to agress, he did, and the rookie ship swarm arrived. We killed off his drones, and had him quadruple webbed and triple scrammed. It took us about 10 minutes to kill him, all the while he's begging in local for ransom, but we were loving the idea of an abbadon kill with rookie ships.

Or...just fit a small nos and let the guy blow his cap trying to neut out a scrambler? It's not a good idea to "keep range" on big guns because if for some reason you cap out and loose speed/transversal/angular he can get a lucky shot and turn you into space dust.

A frigate is the best thing to use against a BS in a 1 v 1 situation. Spiral into close orbit range to get under the guns, kill drones, carry tons of ammo. The only time it gets interesting is a Domi with a full bay of T2 drones and a web.
