Petition: REMOVE MISSION CLOUDS or On/Off

Finally, a critical mass of people willing to complain about these. I've hated them for years. The only cloud in missions that I liked was the sickly green of the last recon mission.

Seriously, whoever designed these things is a sadist. Sometimes they are painful to look at. And, yes we know a sun is bright but as long as we are flying spacehips with underwater physics why can't we have those suns toned down a bit as well. Why we have to have our retinas burned out to play a computer space game is beyond reason.

Foolish gnomes. You have not yet realized the true purpose of the gas cloud.

Allow Ashley Sky to enlighten you.

Epic plus 1, apart from lagging some of the damn things nearly blind you, it's like having a second sun in system.

Yes. Oh god yes.

I've noticed it when doing high-sec exploration. Some sites have this big off-white/yellow cloud that utterly hammers the FPS while being exceedingly bright.

I think these clouds offer a higher performance hit than Incarna did when it launched.

Please get rid of the ridiculously bright space clouds. I dont mission much but they're in anomolies and are annoying as **** when encountered. Absolutely useless and forces you to zoom out, or turn away from them.

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie

I agree with the toggle for clouds but also as a tip, disabling "shadows" completely, not just turning it on low seemed to give me a decent boost around those areas. Check it out.

+1 remove them, give a toggle button, or ideally optimize them so this isn't an issue for anyone. Oruze Constructs in C3 wormholes are unplayable for me at less than max zoom, and the last thing you need in a wormhole is 1 FPS when you're frantically hitting d-scan every 5 seconds because you are ratting even though you're pretty sure you saw a buzzard earlier...

(ok so that was a little specific, but fix the damned clouds)

If they make flashy reds lag out when landing in exploration sites, giving me enough time to warp away, then I'm all for them :-)

I have my shadows already to disabled, that was as soon as they went to the new versions - I took a huge hit on the last change out - oddly not from V3 but something that came in on a mini-patch later... like .3 update... at that point I had to turn them off, but for the first two updates to crucible they looks really good on my machine, I am at a loss what is up with EVE and the graphics at this point...

AA off, Shadows off, Post, off, HDL off, everything off... and then I dropped everything from high to medium... which makes some diffierence but not much and sometimes it is still just as bad with the FPS as on high... or with some item turned back on.

Over all though... the clouds are just horrible looking, they rip alot on the models, they mess up the effects and they don't add anything to the game, it's not like you can hide in one, or they have some game advantage (mutara nebula... Z-minus 10K...) and please CCP do not add that in, can I only image how that would work? need a Mainframe to run the client at that point.

I think simple is best sometimes in game design and roll-out...

and with EVE so much is going on with the game that does do things, and they should be polished, and the "trash" extra fluffer stuff should really either be removed or on/off at the least (imho).

They are fine on my rig with max settings, maybe its time for upgrades people.

to op, nice 2nd post telling people how to think? You know it would take dev time to fix this for you, and alot of us just don't care.

I'm not exactly sure how long a simple toggle for clouds would take CCP but I can't imagine too long and if it improves the quality of life for even one person with lower end hardware, why not give it a shot?

yeah okay nerdlinger, some of us actually go outdoors once in a while where we see plenty of clouds already. We don't need to spend money to see them.
