you seem to conflate "eve gd" presence with in-game presence.
Goons just post on here because they like to post everywhere, with most of the other null alliances choosing only to post on better forums then this one.

Posting in an Internet thread.

Also confirming that the OP has a grudge against 2.5% of the playerbase.

If you already knew the outcome then you should have just stopped posting right there.

if goonswarm is only 2.5% of the player base, then why does CCP call "Burn Jita" a "playerbase-driven event"

Is CCP saying, "we are going to do whatever the loudest 2% tell us to do?"

This sounds a lot like the 1%-ers in the real world telling the other 99% what to do. But unlike the real world, CCP really does have god-like powers, they could easily give concord ships insta-warp ability and stop highsec ganking in an instant, but they choose not to, because they think it's what the players want.

I spend my in-game time literally drowned in 'social'. Between about 10 or so in-game channels with hundreds of people in them talking non-stop, a bazillion jabber channels with hundreds more people and Mumble with even more people and numerous forums, Eve Online is one of the most social games there is.

You're definitely doing it wrong. Find a good corp with a good community.

Anti-social?! What?! We exchange greetings of target locks, bullets, lazors, missles, and bolts of matter to each other everyday. How can this be the antisocial MMO?

I hope that by world you mean EvE world, and not our real life world, because you probably live in the eve world equivalent of high sec (at worst a .5 sec status solar system). If you want to live in the null sec EvE comparison in our real life world you should probably head to a central america tropical jungle (Argentina/etc) or Africa's interior for example, that's where the world is actually a rough place.

I'm sure someone is going to call me a newbie whiner that should go back to WoW for posting this, but here goes.

EVE online puts a HUGE emphasis on joining a corp and interacting with others, yet my 2 months of experience playing the game and reading the forums have shown me that this game is mostly comprised of unfriendly bigoted people who would rather insult you or pod you than actually be nice to you.

No wonder CCP thinks that "what goonswarm wants" is the same as "what the player-base wants": the only players left on EVE are either goonswarm members, or newbies. All the old players have given up in disgust after loosing 2 plexes worth of ship, fittings and implants to a single ganker in a 7 mil (fully reimbursed) ship

It really comes down to this, do you want eve to grow and add more players? or do you want eve to belong to goonswarm? you can't have both. Unless people stand up and say "the goons do not represent me", this is going to turn into GooN Online instead of EvE Online. All the easy care-bear targets will be gone, and the only players left will be PvPers (just like lowsec/nullsec is now)

By invading highsec, goonswarm destroys highsec. I'm sure the "goal" (if there was one) was to drive more players to lowsec, but they really just drove highsec players off the game entirely

I now look forward to the 4 pages of goonswarm members insulting me and the week of random people following me around in-game stealing my loot and ganking me, just for speaking my mind.

How dare you !!??

This is the perfect metaphor.

Imagine you live in the US and you are in your car driving to work. Suddenly a central-american terrorist shows up holding a disposable rocket launcher and blows up your car. You wake up in the hospital late for work and without a car, meanwhile the terrorist wakes up in central america and gets a bounty for killing an american, which is more than enough money to buy another rocket launcher, plus he gets to keep whatever money was in the americans wallet. Is it the American's fault for driving a car instead of an APC (armored personnel carrier)?

You don't expect you get blown up in the US because we have police; highsec also has police, it should be equally safe.

No, it's not up to CCP.

It's up to the other 98% of the playerbase to stop them.

So if I shoot you in real life, the police instantly appear and I am arrested? And you are safe because this happens?

I actually don't think you know how the real world works either.

Sorry to hear all this. I have been playing a few years and am neither a Goon or a new capsuleer. I do a lot of business in null/low and other than a few individuals I don't think I have see a Goon.

I believe their influence is overblown, partly due to their diligent PR machine.
