Cheap pvp rifter questions

So, I'm planning to fit out a load of rifters to go learn pvp in, but I have a few questions about fitting.

- What size ACs? 150mm or 200mm?

- Armour or shield?

- Which ammo is best?

You should google "The Rifter Guide" by Wensley. All your questions are answered there

No, they aren't. I've read it, and still have questions. Such as 'how the hell do I get hold of enough meta-level autocannons'?

This.

But in short:
- shield is less cookie than armor so it's a little surprise factor which can be of help
- best ammo is that one that shoots just through resist hole so it completely depends what ship you shooting at
- usually you fit biggest gunz you can but you have to take into account things like tracking, optimals, falloff. so once again - it all depends.

Well, usually I buy bunch of t2 gunz at nearest trade hub. I assume you can fit t2 gunz, tank/gank mods...

I can fit them, but they're more isk than I'd like to spend on something that's just gonna end up a cloud of expanding dust in a minute or so from when I find someone to fight.

Maybe when I have a handle on the basic tactics, I'll be able to justify 10mil+ fits, but I'm not gonna throw that much into my first few rifters.

Adjust the meta-level of the guns to your wallet, as you will be losing these Rifters. If you're having problems with supply, go to a Minmatar trade hub.

As for tank, in my opinion armor works better with lower skills because of the web, 150s are what I roll with but really whatever allows you to fit a plate, 200mm minimum.

Skills aren't an issue so much. I'm experienced with PvE already, and have skills for that. The support and tank skills are much the same.

And a plate? I was thinking DCU2 and EANM. Straight resists to save mass.

3. pvp heretic member

Back when I did it, I used whatever I could get my greedy hands on. Though I think I used to try to use 125 or 150mm more often than the 200, but that was just me. Experiment on your targets see what you like best.

AC Size depends on fitting constraints and expected targets.

I prefer Shield for the speed and DPS, however the standard is Armor.

Best ammo is that which your opponent has the weakest resists to. Do some research, check info on his ship before fighting, etc.

GL... Rifter is a great ship

This is about as far as you can take the Rifter frame without going faction/deadspace.
Choice between the first and second fit is whether you prefer extra buffer HP or a repper.
If you want cheaper, just substitute T1 for the T2 guns.

If you aren't kiting with barrage in a SAR fit you are doing it wrong.

Shield fit is nice, as stated, provides a surprise factor.

Merlin beats every fit listed in this thread.
