Hulk gank question (no cheese required)

I have a question that I would be grateful if someone could answer.

Having never ganked (or been ganked in) a hulk, how long does it take to do it? I'm just interested the time from when the first shot is fired to either concord popping the ship (assume a .5 sec status system) or ganker death.

Cheers!

Tornado can gank TWO hulks SOLO in one shot :)

2 groups of 4, 2 locks, 2 alpha ganks :)

A lot of people use thrashers in a smartbomb fleet or something too. A lot also roam lower highsec sec rated systems, 0.5, 0.6 etc as it takes concord longer to show up.

ECM bursts used to (not sure if they do now) give u a few extra seconds against concord.

Don't smartbomb if they have drones, you will get a sec penalty per drone on top of his ship :) Always alpha if you can with locked weps, only Smartbomb if they have no drones and in low sec highsec systems. and if its a tight fleet. Most hulks are weak to thermal (plasma factions), dont bother carrying ammo in your cargo, it will just drop and you have no time to reload, just load rounds into the guns and use them.

Hulks also now drop T2 salvage, thats approx 25..30m per intact armour plate, plus drops (3m each ish per mining laser) plus ore etc, so a DUAL SOLO ALPHA GANKADO is break even to profitable depending on how much they cost you.

Try to have a fleet mate slavgage and loot your wrecks (and theirs especially) to fund the next gank.

Don't gank orca fleeted machs or hulks solo, most are tanked up and have fleet bonuses applied. Instead get a gank fleet in to take care of the orca (he will warp out :) ). then get them :) - I want an Orcageddon :)

You could always wardec the mining corps and gank them without fear of concord :)

as with everything EvE .... It depends

How is your ship fit and what is the other ship fit what are the skills.

usualy in a 0.5 system concord will take 20 sec to get there. also be careful if you are the one ganking not to gank the same belt because if concord is there already it goes from 20 sec to 0

Oh well that has killed one theory.

I was wondering if logistics drones (shield reppers) would be enough to tip the scale in favor of the miner... but alpha kills, no way :)

Oh and I would probably be the one being ganked, no idea why I seem to be attached to my positive sec status.

Alpha kills are easy against hulks lol.

You can smartbomb hulks , but it takes a few cycles and you best be in 0.5 and they best not deploy drones or your sec takes a plumet.

This about sums it up.

Fit a tank above 20k EHP and mine 0.8 and above and they won't be so quick to go after you.

Not many people will pull out 3 Nado's costing 250mil w/o Insurance when buddy beside you can be solo'd in a Catty.

Also if someone makes an attempt to gank you move 10 systems that way ---> and log for a few hours. Some rich fail gankers may try again if they pop off your hull. Less likely if you move off.

Where do you mine?

Im sitting in a Wormhole with exits to low, high and W, so I can pretty much get to any region fast not to mention JC's in every major hub :)

I don't so much, only when I want to take the edge of pos fuel prices.

I usually mine in space. Ice belts or Asteroid belts! By the sounds of it ganking is easy and you want me to make it easier for you :)

i personally usually don't bother with the effort of killing well-buffertanked people but alphaing someone with heavy reps just tweaks my naughty bits in a delightful way

Now see if I don't tell her what character I mine on and fit a tank she is left swinging in the wind.

Nothing she do about it and without someone to go after she won't purposely pick the tanked targets. Even if she does the other 300 won't increasing your odds huge. Doesn't make you invincible but it does make you safer.

Tell them nothing.

I've ganked tanked hulks before :) It isn't just about the ship you know :) *taps head* *checks fleet*

All ships are gankable even freighters. Basic security limits the target on your back.

no it can't. an untankd hulk has about 8k ehp, an arty tornado has about 12k alpha(perfect skills, faction ammo and implants). that said, you may have time for a second shot depending on the circumastances.

I should buy an Ishtar.

In a .5 you usually have around 20 seconds; I've seen it take up to 23-24 (depends on a number of factors) and as little as 18.
