Do Pod guys sleep? If so when?

Yes they do sleep. There are beds inside the stations. So they probably sleep if they need to. While they inside the pod don't require food, water, nor sleep - they do need everything a normal person would need outside it.

This is certainly an interesting question because we as humans cannot completely stay awake indefinately, our concious mind has to sleep. Pod pilots are still biological entities so I think the same limitations would apply as to whether they need sleep or not, even if sleep times were shortened artificially.

And if they were sleep deprived:

Complete absence of sleep over long periods is impossible for humans to achieve (unless they suffer from fatal familial insomnia); brief microsleeps cannot be avoided. Long-term total sleep deprivation has caused death in lab animals.
There are a whole host of symptoms that occur with sleep deprivation including hallucinations, impaired moral judgement, symptoms similar to ADHD and psychosis just to name a few. This alternatively could actually explain the actions of many pod pilots.Big smile

Nex (Cash Shop) / Aurum - removing sand from the sandbox since Incarna. Currently the only use for aurum is to buy virtual items in the in-game store, but Cockerill expects to expand its uses in the future.

I don't think that being jacked into a ships AI would have anything to do with sleeping. As I understand it our brains need to "reset" after a period of activity, to categorize new memories and stuff.

When you connect to the ship your conscience is not magically transported into a computer, it's still a function of the brain, the only difference being that now instead of getting signals from your body it gets them from the sips systems, hence the sensation of it being your body.

There are animals out there (in real world) that can overcome this by "switching off" parts of the brain, thus effectively being both asleep and awake at the same time. Maby capsuleer implants allow for that?

Also, do capsuleers dream of immortal sheep?

When they're mining or running Incursions...

High sec distribution missions too.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

I'm in no way an expert nor even an huge enthusiast in biological sciences, but as far as I understand, pod pilots sleep all the time - when they're in their pods, their body is effectively sleeping. Current theory I think is, that sleeping has a lot to do with sorting out the experiences of the day and helping the brain memorize stuff. So yes they would probably need to sleep some time to prevent sudden bouts of insanity, but pod pilots I'd imagine are far more flexible in sleep cycles, possibly being awake days in a row without much ill effects. So as to the OP - I think pod pilots can catch some Z's when it's most suitable for them - basicly out of harms way at least for a few hours.
