Here am I reflecting on the meaning of life, listening to space music and trying to help fellow players build their shiny ships by selling minerals to them at rock bottom prices (pardon the pun Blink )

And the thanks I and my fellow hard working miners get, for all the effort we put in to help our fellow players to build their shiny ships with our minerals is..........................Hulkageddon

This game is Hilarious in its Absurdity at times Big smile

Because shooting players is always going to be more fun than shooting immobile rocks. Even the most carebear of the carebears have the option of shooting braindead AI constructs that at least attempt to shoot back.

Look, once I recommended EVE to a guy on a forum and his answer was (hope CCP will read this) :

Quote:
My problem is with the gameplay. Essentially you have a job. So I was paying to have a job in the future that i didnt get paid for. Thus ended my career as a space prospector Wink .

Mining in EVE isn't videogame.

There is so much stockpiled ore from miners and bots past that mining today is simply masturbation. Some sort of sad self fulfillment to make your own items when its more time efficient to shoot a few bounties and buy the item out right that had already been made from a cache of trillions of minerals that never dwindles as future scrubs keep adding to it after the fact for dirt cheap as they cant understand the fact that time equals isk and believes that since they mined it that its free money. Which any sane individual will see as a mind numbing futile goal if they are looking for profit.

Glory? You use that word, but I do not think it means what you think it does.

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

But guys you don't get it, mining is something you can do in Eve while doing ten other things like washing the dishes, vaccuming the room, video calling friends, unpacking the shopping, helping your brother win Plants vs Zombies on another monitor!!
Life is then so much more interesting then.

If you only PVP, thats all you can do; PVP, cos you of turn away for a sec, you could be popped.

Now do you understand the Glory of Mining BlinkCool

Some of us prefer to live our lives or have fun playing a game at different times, not attempt to do both at the same time poorly.

Hulkageddon is but a tiny fraction of the PvP happening in EVE.

Wouldn't you agree that at that point you technically aren't really playing? Personally i find mining in its current state only good as secundary isk provider in times i want to do something else but yet want to make iskies.

You are half-playing, and thats the cool thing for people who like to do many things at the same time, can't do that with PVP.

And I also do like zoning out sometimes when I reflect on the cool Nebulae in the background Cool

Clearly. And to pay for that RL productivity only costs the occasional hulk wreck. Let's hope your extracurricular activities are satisfying enough that we don't need to see you on the forums complaining that hulks need a tank buff because you lost one while doing the dishes.

Miners let you play internet spaceships while they play...real life, what's wrong with that? Why the hate! P

Miners don't get to play real life as much as anyone else in EVE.

Keeping your PC running and checking on it for long hours keeps you tethered to your home / apartment. Sure, you can do other things, to a point. Mining is very time consuming and thus half-playing is limiting both in game and outside it. The alternative is to bot, which is bannable.

By contrast, everyone else can log in and log out as they please, experienced condensed entertainment or just chat, then hop off and hit the pub. No tether.

This is why people look at miners and scoff. the few that are actually people playing are literally throwing their time away for chump change, and thinking they're making a profit, not realizing that time is a valuable resource, and they could make far more ISK via other means, and then buy far more minerals, in the same timeframe.
